Google Play says there's no connection?

Hey guys I just figured out by myself what causes this annoying "google play no conncetion" on my google nexus 5!

It has something to do with the "ad blocker" app I installed way back and uninstalled recently. As for unrooted devices the app need to set up a proxy (long pressing the connected network ==> modify network ==> show advanced option ==> proxy) for its function. As such when the app is uninstalled, the proxy setting is still being remembered by the phone, and that causes the problem.

Simply delete the proxy settings on the selected network (aka don't use proxy), and it will work out.

If you have an Ad Block app such as AdAway, try updating the host file. Mine was not fully downloaded and it was preventing my use of Google Play and receiving notifications

(1)Formet the android device
(2)when signing in gmail or google account notice a statement below the enter password field

Eg :-

[1st line](Enter email)
[2nd line](Enter password)
[Last line with a TICKE BOX](Sync the data.......(statement may vary from device to device , but very less to no chance))

(3)as i mentioned notice the third line sentence and read it
(4)if it says something about sync things then
(5)there should be an already ticked box at the start of these terms and conditions( yes ! They r some kind of terms and conditions)
(6) untick the box (meaning , tap the box nd the tick will disapear , but if the tick does not disapear then try to make it disappear )
(7) once it is unticked ( no tick in box) then
(8) sign in
(9) if your problem still continues then
(10) ' my problems gone brotha , i cant help ya'
(11) sorry if i was rude in statement(10)
(12) repeat the whole process 3 timea and see if u get some luck
(13) and last but not least make sure u have the date, day, time (accurate within hours) correctly set in your android device

Thankyou if u read my over-explained solution to a not so very explainable ptoblem.

My lg Optimus g says the connection timed out and will connect only through the search to anything but music...
I am getting annoyed it has been a couple of weeks this has been a problem and tried cache deleting account time is automatic everything pretty much.
Help!?!

If u use ad blocking, disable it and Play Store should work

OK, I am having this problem exactly. I have done the following:
- Reinstalled GApps 4 times, the last 2 times I completely uninstalled them and used SD Maid to cleanup the mess before re-flashing GApps
- Checked the time 27 times
- Set the time to manual
- The airplane mode thing
- Cleared the hosts file
- Removed and re-added my Google accounts
- Removed one of the 2 accounts, this fixed the "sync error" but not Google Play
- Cleared the cache on all GApps
- Wiped cache partition
- Deodexed everything

So far nothing has worked. I can access the internet, unrestricted even, but none of the GApps can for whatever stupid reason. I'm running CM 10.1 on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" GT-P5113. This happened once before on this device and re-flashing GApps worked, but not this time.

You said you cleared the hosts file. Did u mean u erased all contents of it or restore it to stock? Because u shouldn't delete everything in it. Also make sure ur using the CM 10.1 GApps. I have this tablet and just restoring the hosts file to stock worked. When u delete GApps make sure u wipe dalvik before flashing. If this doesn't work, wipe only /system partition and reflash CyanogenMod. This way u reset the system to stock CM without losing data.

hosts file: I restored it to stock, which is a one-liner "127.0.0.1 localhost"
GApps: I was using the CM 10.1 GApps, but I will redownload just to be sure.
Dalvik cache: Cleared it several times, but I will do it again.
Wiping /system partition: Hmmm... I will have to redownload some apps then, as I have some apps I made system apps with TB. But of it works then it works...

I just found an interesting nugget of info. The Gmail app works. I don't use the Gmail app as I use K9 mail, but on a whim I tried it - and it worked. So now where does this lead...
Edit: It seems the ONLY GApp not working is Google Play and it's derivatives - Google Play Music/Books/etc.

I finally gave in and wiped the /data partition. It works now. So I have a theory: invalid permissions. Try CWM's "Fix Permissions" and if not get terminal, run `chown system:system /data/app-lib&&chown system:system /data/app-lib/*`
