AC Question

Hi i've just brought a cheap android phone for my young daughter for christmas as her first phone but after setting it up & updating Google Play services to the latest update i keep getting a Google Play services has stopped error. I've cleared the cache and tried all the tricks shown but nothing helps. If i uninstall the latest version the error goes away but i can't use youtube and some other apps. Please has anyone got any new ideas.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Did Google Play Services update on its own, or did you manually update yourself?

The phone is called G650 5.0" Touch Screen Dual Sim Dual Standby Smart Phone. Google Play services asks to update on the lock screen or when i click youtube icon.

Does it still give you the error if you boot into Safe Mode? On most Android devices, while powered on, press and hold Power until the Power Off menu appears. Press and hold the Power Off selection until the Safe Mode prompt appears. Tap OK.

Yes i also get the error in safe mode, really stumped at the moment with it. If i roll back the update it does not error but i can't access google app and Youtube.

My guess is that something about the phone's firmware is incompatible with the most recent Google Play Services update. (The fact that your phone is off-brand may make this more likely.) You may have to wait until the next time it's updated, then try it again.
