Google Play Services Install Error

Hello,

I have a problem with my Lenovo Tab 3 (O/S 5.1) . When trying to open many of my apps I receive the following message :
"app won't run unless you update google play services".


Update downloaded ok, but after many times of trying it will not install, I just receive an error message "Google Play Services can't be installed (error code 504). I carried out some know actions to try and resolve this problem :

1.Cleared cache & data from Google Play Service, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework & Download Manager.
2.Uninstalled & reinstalled Play Store updates.
3.Removed and reentered Google account.


None of these actions worked so I reset to factory settings but I still have the same problem. I'm not very technical but I thought a hard reset would return it's status to how it came out of the box. Well it worked fine then, but it doesn't now.

Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.

P.S. Yes, I have posted this question on another forum, but have not received any answers.

Welcome to Android Central! I saw another similar post for a different device running Lollipop. It's possible that more and more old APIs on Lollipop are being deprecated, and therefore apps on the devices are starting to run into compatibility issues.
