I wish I would have looked here a week ago, I have been pulling my hair out trying to fix mine for a solid week. Including resetting , uninstalling and reinstalling apps and updates, and it works after reset up till it gets to Chat services or hangouts, everything else works, but both of the above give the same error: [RPC:S-7:AEC-0...]. and says that turning chat services on in my Google account is the problem. The service IS TURNED ON, so I checked here finally.

Thank you for at least letting people like me know that we have been making ourselves bald for no reason LOL

If you get an error message:

"There was an error retrieving server information [RPC:S-7:AEC-0]"

Go to Settings > Application > Google Play Store > Clear Data and Clear Cache.
Go to Settings > Accounts > Google > Choose an account > Remove account.
Reboot the device.
Go to Settings > Account > Google > Log In.

Go to settings > Date and time settings > uncheck these options like Automatic date & time, Automatic time zone, then set date and time wrongly and press home key, then go to these settings again and set date and time righlty and check these options Automatic date & time, Automatic time zone again and then try Google play store , i Hope it will work now. Thanks

i have changed the time and date unchecked the automatic times zone then corrected them and it worked try it

“””” A Fix For Not Being Able To Download Or Install Apps From The Google Play Store
For People Who Have Tried EVERYTHING And It Still Doesn’t Work !!!!!!”””””””””

To keep a long story short, I had decided to start using an older Android phone of\my wife’s. So I decided to factory reset it so I could start fresh on it. Well after it restarted it immediately began to ***** about not being able to connect to server. Then when I opened the play store everything I tried to download was Error retrieving information from server. I tried everything I could think of but nothing worked. Then hitting the forums and trying everything listed in them at least 10 times. So I was about to just give up then my little voice said try this one last thing and to my surprise it WORKED. Everything was working, updating and downloading. Here are the steps to what I did.
1. Remove all accounts and yes this means do a factory reset
2. Restart the device
3. After start up DO NOT and I mean DO NOT create, link or sign in using your google account info. Hit skip this step and let the device fully start up.
4. After is has started and you have a data connection open the Play Store
5. At this time NOW sign in with your google account info.
6. Just sit back and enjoy watching the updates come zooming in.
I don’t know why this worked or how but it worked. I am posting this so that others who are as frustrated as I was, might have a chance at PEACE. May this post save others and lead to calm.

Why did this happen? I am still getting RPC:S-7:AEC-0. Today it's cut off from the app store. I'm just a normal user - I haven't rooted or anything. I've had my $700 phone for two weeks now, and it's now a dumbphone. Google? Talk to us!

Re: Google Play services outage, RPC:S-7:AEC-0 error retrieving information from server

actually I had the same problem, and when I check all the mentioned solutions it wouldn't work however after I tried this solution I managed to solve this error retrieving information from server
Kindly find below mentioned the steps for your kind consideration
setting - accounts - remove your current account - add account - don't create new account but use your old google account the previous one that you used to have before your current google account
Play store - before you install any new app you have 6 apps that need to be updated first start with the following order update
1- Google
2- Google Talkback
3- Hangouts
4- Google Street view
5- YouTube
6- Maps
once you finish all the update you will be able to install other application
Good Luck

Had this happen to me today. What skeked for me was remove my Google account completely from my device and then add it back. That solved the error.

I can tell I tried EVERYTHING listed in this mail thread with no success. However, I was able to fix it doing the steps I shared in another forum here in androidcentral. Since I can't post links yet, I'll copy/paste what I did to fix it here:

I was also struggling to get an old HTC Flyer tablet, running a Honey Comb ROM (LeeDroid v4.3.0 from XDA), to connect to Google Play after a factory reset. I tried many many things, but this was what resolved the issue:

1) Downloaded and installed the latest version of both Google Play Services and Google Play Store available for Honey Comb, which as of today (Jan 27, 2016) was:

- Google Play Services 8.4.89 which I downloaded from androidapksfree dot com (just search there, cause I can post links here since it's my 1st post)
- Google Play Store 6.1.12 which I downloaded from androidapksfree dot com

Then, I followed these steps to install them:

1) Stopped the installed Google Play Store I had on my tablet (4.8.20), cleared cache, cleared data, etc.

2) Installed Google Play Services

3) Installed Google Play Store and DID NOT opened it.

4) Reboot

5) After reboot, everything ran smoothly.

I hope this can help someone else, because it took me some time to overcome this error!

Thanks so much! I didn't believe that might be a problem for synchronization. After a factory reset my apps won't update and i wasn't able to install anything from google play. And now after changing the date everything is working fine. I hope it will help to others with the sam too :)
