Google Possibly Investing in Songza

They have phones in the same price ranges as all the non-junk Android phones.

IPhone 4 $180 - Amazon.com: Apple iPhone 4 16GB (Black) - CDMA Verizon: Cell Phones & Accessories
iPhone 4S $293 - Amazon.com: Apple iPhone 4S 16GB (White) - Verizon: Cell Phones & Accessories

It seems like these are individually owned phones with no warranty.

I imagine that people don't really want a 3-4 year old phone.
Why? What do current phones do that 3-4 year old phones don't?
The iPhone 4S was released in 2011...why is Apple still selling it if no one wants 3-4 year old phones?

I don't know about individual phones, but as a group it would be the low and mid tier. Even your source said that 66% were low-end. I actually believe it to be higher that that, probably around 85%.
Based on what?

My opinion , just as your opinion is the opposite.

Much higher quality than Androids. Are you going to buy a new phone with no warranty?
Never had to use the warranty on any of my Android phones, so no, I don't know that I'd miss it.

Seems like there is more concerned for warranty support on iPhones though.

You'll miss it when something happens to it.

Good thing nothing does. But when it does, that's why we have phone insurance. Warranties don't cover everything.

Insurance does not cover problems with the phone. But I guess you could walk into the Google Store, or HTC store, or Samsung store, oh wait .....
Warranty support on Androids is a drawn out deal most of the time. Apple blows them all away in this subject.

Oh please, iPhone owners and Android owners walk into a CARRIER store first. People take this Apple support and run with it and think it's all that, when it is just another service desk. Nothing "magical" about it.

I'm also a fan of Apple's support generally, but I would like to point out that "walking into a store" is incredibly inconvenient for a lot of people and Google's (and Assurion does the same thing) method of sending you the replacement overnight first and having you ship yours back to them afterwards is MUCH better than having to take off of work or wait for a weekend in order to go visit a physical location that could be hours away. It's about 90 minutes to the nearest Apple store for me. Both are definitely better than some other OEM's though, who will have you ship to them first and then you're without a device. The best thing about the Apple store isn't that they'll replace your device there, it's that when you walk up it's set up just like your old one was. Anyone can replace a device.

I don't think that Asurion does warranties.

Yeah, it is all that.

Right, they're insurance but their process is the same. They ship to you and you ship yours back to them once you get it.

Warranty coverage is where the problem is. All but Google will probably require you to ship first. So, I had rather drive to an Apple store if possible, instead of going days without a phone. Apple is even well known for replacing long out of warranty phones at no charge.

Ok, I'll let you know when something happens. Been about 4 or 5 years so far though, so I'm not holding my breath.

And you're going to need it, because apparently iPhones are not as reliable as we were led to believe.

I'll bet money that they are more reliable than any Android.

It's not.

Ok, whatever. You are speaking from experience?
