Google originally copied Apple, and then Samesung BLATANTLY copied Apple (right down to their connector), therefore infringing on Apple's patents. Galaxy phones would have probably gone nowhere without the flat-out copying.
And yes, Apple has copied some, but to my knowledge has not stolen anyone's patents.




Google it. It will be easy to find. So far, it has cost Samesung hundreds of millions of $$ in fines.

Honest question! I really like to know, because I never done anything like that before nor I see the need of doing it.

And...we are still left with the fact that Google was not the one complaining about people copying. Apple was. "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. Beats isn't important but I wasn't referring to specifically beats, I meant in general, giants buying smaller companies and such is bad.

BTW, Google and Android are not open source.

Android itself is most definitely open source.

Google's apps themselves (Maps, Gmail, ect) are proprietary. But anyone can use Android and make apps for it, and even create their own markets.

I, like many don't need my mobile OS to be exciting...to entertain me. I can get apps for that. This is why iOS works so well for so many. Now, the smallish screens and lack of customization (which android really makes noticeable) is why I returned to Android but Apple's iOS functions just fine as a base from which to communicate and run apps...IMO.

I agree, I never said ios doesn't work. It's just sooooooo boring and time wasting, to me.

I had an iPhone 4, used it a couple of days and gave it to one of my nieces.

AT&T sent me the 5 and later the 5S. Tried them each for one week and still didn't like them. Each was returned.

I just can't make myself to like ios, can't!

For me it was just functionality. I could probably learn to live with no live wallpapers or widgets...but 3rd party app integration is a big deal to me. Notifications are a big deal to me. Being able to sideload without rooting is a big deal to me. The share menu is a big deal to me. Those are things I could not live without and are why I would probably never go to iOS willingly.

I actually like both platforms, but I can guarantee you that there is more Android fanboyism in these forums than Apple fanboyism, including iMore. But it is a well known fact what I said about Google changing midstream and coming out with a copy of iPhone.

Common sense: Apple is not in the business of selling hardware accessories to unrelated technologies (in this case audio) like headphones are. Especially not if those hardware accessories are not conceived and designed by them. Apple IS in the business of selling online software services and data (iTunes). Beats' streaming service is a nice complementary business to what Apple already has.
It doesn't hurt that the headphones business is a very profitable one in its own right, but that – for Apple – is just a sideshow, and they will probably sell that part again in a couple years.

Samesung flat out copied Apple in looks and hardware, and even icons. Google copied them in features. The phone that Google was ready to release when the iPhone was introduced didn't even have a touchscreen. They trashed that notion when they saw the iPhone.
