Google Possibly Investing in Songza

Yeah, apparently. And it's been a while too.

We first heard about this about a year ago. It's not new news. Virtually all of Android's gains were at the expense of Apple. There is no Blackberry in the tablet world (unless you count Apple as the new blackberry...which they might be lol)

Apparently you thought wrong heh heh.

Android will go down before Apple does. Especially if Samsung drops android.

Can I borrow your crystal ball? Samsung is only one OEM for Android they make up a huge part, but there plenty more to pick up the slack. Apple I think will lose in mobile in maybe 5 years I think.

They have been losing market share for a while. Though they do remain the most profitable but shrinking market share can lead to shrinking profits. Google is already a more valued brand than Apple.

Every other android manufacturer is losing money. Apple is setting record sales year after year even if marketshare shrinking. Their marketshare in the United States staying steady or rising.

Gee, I was hearing a lot of predictions about Android's imminent failure around 2010. You know, back in the days when Apple still had more marketshare.

"No one will ever buy a phablet"
"No one wants 7 inch tablets"
"Android is never gonna pass up the iPhone"
"Well, definitely no way Android will pass iOS on tablets"
"Apple Maps will blow away Google Maps...Apple doesn't need Google anymore"

lol, It's getting hard to take the predictions of you people seriously when so many of them have failed.

It does not surprise me at all when Apple people like FFR are completely unaware of stuff the rest of us have known about for a while. I've been to Apple forums. The Steve Jobs Reality Distortion field is completely real and is still operating even now. - http://gizmodo.com/5946966/steve-jobs-reality-distortion-field-lives-on - There are lots of them like this. They are told exaggerations and equivocations and they believe them. They will use Apple fan sites as references and evidence for stuff, and act shocked (SHOCKED) when you won't take a fan site as a legitimate and accurate news source by itself.

Every other android manufacturer is losing money. Apple is setting record sales year after year even if marketshare shrinking.
That makes it all the more remarkable that they seem to be climbing over each other to make Android products. Why is there such a demand to sell Android stuff if no one is making money? You tell me.

Actually so far as we know HTC and Motorola lose money on Android. LG does well, Sony does well enough to drop their computers, Huawei is ultra popular and Lenovo believe or not is one of the biggest smartphone and tablet manufacturers on the planet. ZTE does good as well.

Manufacturers do just fine, any one of the ones I mentioned can replace Samsung if they hypothetically left Android. Apple market share in the U.S. is declining:

Apple will continue to rise in the US. That was only one quarter. They have been on the rise for the last two years except one quarter every now and then.

None of those companies have the advertising money that Samsung has, so they cannot hit the market as big as Samsung can.

Very now and then? They have less market share as time goes on. More often than not there market share is declining instead of rising. Either way it takes nothing away from Apple, it just means that eventually they may start have declining profits on mobile.

Their US market share has increased about 10 points in the last 18 months. I don't see where that's declining more than rising.

You keep taking about the U.S. I am talking globally. The U.S. while an important market is not the only one, and internationally things don't look as rosy. Apple holds like 40% market share in the U.S. so of course things look better here.

As I reiterated before it takes NOTHING from Apple now they still make the most and sell the most individual models of devices. But as I have been saying a smaller international presence over time and maybe even in the U.S. can have negative effects for their profits. But then, again iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 may do some wonders for Apple and they may reach 50-60% of the U.S. market share. We don't know.

I know for sure this fall will be one of the most interesting seasons in the smartphone market for years.

I think that the iPhone 6 will make a pretty big difference in the market, especially in the US market. But android will still control the junk market overseas.

Quick question, does Songza have any features Google Play Music does not have?

That's impossible. Steve Jobs already panned large phones. No one wants them, remember?

Android controls the market everywhere, not just overseas. And Apple Insider doesn't agree with you that they are junk.

I think that Apple Insider said that 61% were junk. But it doesn't matter, as it was just an editorial by one person, so basically it was an opinion. Just like the opinion of high-end Android out-selling iPhones, just an opinion.
BTW, Steve Jobs is no longer at Apple :)

Opinion pieces are not considered fact anymore on Apple sites? We are making progress.
