Obviously not you nor the small community at Android central. Google released sales for the og pixel. That thing was literally shoved down everyone's throat, raved by everyone and it did not sell well at all, like 220,000 units a quarter globally. So based off of that one expects the 2xl not to do well. Especially given it's price tag, lack of carrier availability and the scrutiny it has received. I also had a higher up I was complaining to at Google tell me they have an insane amount of RMA's that regular orders are backordered/shipping late. If it's true then that's not good at all. IF it's true.

One reason there's so many RMAs, if that's true, is because people are returning perfectly good phones due to blue tint, but that's neither here nor there.

You are making a lot of assumptions, and all without any basis for doing so.

The original Pixel didn't sell well mostly because Google couldn't keep up with demand, so there's one of your assertions that is false.

You are one of the only ones who expects the Pixel 2 to sell in the same numbers as the Pixel 1, most people expect them to sell a lot more, mostly because of improvements in the supply channel. Why you would expect what you say you expect is beyond me, you certainly don't have any basis in fact to do so. Google is marketing the Pixel 2 much more actively than they ever did with the original Pixel. All of the pundits and commentators I read have expected much higher sales for the second iteration.

What lack of carrier availability are you talking about? The phones are available unlocked, and will work on any system, not just Verizon. They are available directly through Verizon and T-Mobile, and also at Best Buy, not to mention directly through Google.

The bottom line is that you have no idea at all if the majority of people who own a Pixel 2 XL are unhappy with their screens.

Guys it's okay. It's really simple...

Some will accept it. Others won't. Both aren't wrong. When you're spending your money you get to say what's right and wrong. I personally don't give a crap who tells me what when I am spending my cash because.. it's my cash. I worked and earned it.

That said.. I'm fine with me having to go 45 degrees or so to see it. For me it's a non issue but I can understand some not accepting that. If you don't accept it.. that's why I love Android.. choices :).

Obviously they're not perfect if they're getting returned. I never saw og pixel out of stock, now I saw op5 out of stock but never the og pixel. Google isn't marketing the 2 more than the og, I saw og pixel commericals shoved down my throat and maybe 5 xl 2 commercials.

Verizon or TMobile sells it, Best buy sells Verizon version. No att version or Sprint version and most people do installments through the carrier. That's a huge loss for Google. You are one of the only people I see who expects the 2xl to do well. This is getting old honestly, you and I agree to disagree.

BTW my panda arrived on Nov 18th and for some reason my phone has 0 blue tint I can take pics if you want to see it. I never even thought about it then I saw some guys video on YouTube saying he got his xl replaced and the one he got being a panda as well had no blue tint neither.

So far I don't have burn in ::::crossing fingers:::::: I wonder if LG/Google resolved the issues on newer phones. Anyone else experiencing no blue tint when tilting?

I for one would love to see a 2 XL with no blue tint. Please post a video of varying angles.

A phone being returned doesn't have to have anything to do with if it's good or not. I've seen people return devices because they didn't like the color, or because a new promo came out and they wanted to be eligible for it.

I've looked at various examples of the S8, Note8, iPhone X, and Pixel 2 XL. All of them have some degree or another of color shift, and in some cases, the Pixel wasn't the worst offender.

I'm struggling to understand your reasoning about the Samsung vs LG displays. You're saying LG is on generation 4 and Samsung is on generation 10, and it's unacceptable. The reason LG isn't at the same generation as Samsung is because they got out of OLED panels in smartphones a few years back, opting for LCD instead. Now you may ask why Apple doesn't have that issue, and that's because they're using a Samsung panel. They didn't develop their own technology, they bought it off someone who's already done the work. The only way LG could skip generations would be to either steal the tech from Samsung, or one of their engineers. And more than likely, those engineers would have a non-compete in place barring them from working with a competitor or divulging and trade secrets they were privy to in the employ of Samsung.

You act like it's no big deal for these companies to send out another device hoping it might be better. Most any company isn't going to send out a replacement product if there isn't an almost a guarantee that it will fix the problem. And in many cases, the first thing they'll ask is, does the issue prevent the device from operating.

If it where happening all the time at any angle, then I could see it. But if you have to change the angle to one you're not going to use it at in the first place... You know what, buy a different phone and be done with it.

I really only wanted to talk to nelam but I'll let you entertain me for a minute.

If a phone is returned investors and a company see it as something being wrong point blank period. Of course returns are factored in but a return is a loss regardless.

You're comparing phone companies that sell M I L L I O N S let me repeat that.....MILLIONS so the inconsistency should be higher due to the fact that there is a higher chance of error to a company that could barely sell a million phones a year, it should not have that same screen inconsistency. Ok? Are you good? I'm squashing that right now.

Next, I did not say LG is only generation 4 I clearly said multiple times earlier they have a generation 6 and above plant. But those plants have too low of a yeild and are being used for TV's (that also happen to go out a lot, also their appliances kind suck as well, I will argue that too.) So they use the generation 4. Sadly pOLED is 95% the same as AMOLED so I mean.......

Next, it IS not big deal, once consumer fanboys that cape for a company that cares 0 about them realize that then we'll be ok. (If it don't apply let it fly...)

And lastly I agree but people use their phones differently , just like I rarely use my phone straight on and it's always tilted in some angle, someone out there uses it differently.

The end, back to my coding hw.

Think you're a phone enthusiast having all those phones. Your obviously very particular. So I'd suggest staying away from it if it bothers you. Try the smaller pixel 2. I love it and I didn't think I'd like the smaller screen.

There are already dozens of threads on this issue. As a friendly reminder, we want you to use the search function to find existing threads and contribute to those rather than creating yet another redundant thread. There doesn't seem to be anything said in this thread that wasn't said in most, if not all, of the others.

Panda Pixel 2 XL - with no blue tint

Hey guys I was going to post a quick video on another thread but it got closed, so I'll create one. I received my Panda 64GB Pixel 2 XL on Nov. 18th and I looked for all the screen issues. I tried to make a video with my GoPro hero 4 camera, but it isn't the best picture. I hope you guys can still make it out. To me in my eyes i see 0 blue tint, let me know what you think. Again sorry about the video quality. Please check out the video below, thanks.

I see blue shift tint when you move it. That wouldn't stop me from buying it.
My question is...how come you don't see it?

I don't see anything yes feels like the brightness drops a little bit, but i don't see an actual blue color. I'm going to see if I can make a better video in a place where there is more light vs my basement office. I think that's why the gopro wasn't capturing good quality. I'll report back, thanks.

Um, that blue tint on shifting angles in the video is what all the kerfuffle is about. Your phone has it about as badly as most that I've seen do.

I don't blame you if you're surprised that THAT is what all this fuss is about...

WOW indeed I am surprised, I do see it sort of getting a little darker, but doesn't seem like anything crazy. On some videos I saw online I could clearly see a blue tint. If this is what the fuzz indeed was about then LMAO. Also it's true i never find myself looking at my screen side ways lololol.

Again it's not anything out of the ordinary. Might appear stronger in the video depending on which phone and setting it's being viewed in.

After this blue tint nonsense started blowing up, I checked the Samsung Galaxy S6 that I had been using for 2 years. You know what? It had the blue tint, and it was every bit as "serious" and "severe" as what was driving people crazy about the Pixel 2 XL. I had been using this phone for 2 years and had never noticed it before. You know why? Because it's a non-issue. period.

To You

Exactly this. I used the device for over two months before someone mentioned this "issue" and then when I looked for it I was like, "oh, yeah... ok yeah it does that". And then I checked my other OLED devices and some in a Verizon store and found that Samsung, Nexus, Moto, etc devices all do this too, though sometimes at different angles and with different colors visible or not visible or whatever is going on.
