Seems kind-of weird to act like all Google did was some advertising, when that was preceded by years of turning RCS into the widely-used standard replacing MMS/SMS, which would not have happened without Google? For all of Google's history of chaos around messaging, RCS is actually an example of Google deciding on a direction and sticking to it year after year to make to successful, with Apple's adoption of RCS the ultimate culmination of that.

Colour me surprised. ;)
As soon as I figure out what art style colour is gladly 😀.
Meanwhile have this 😲🫢.

__ On Topic_;
As said in the post above me, Google is hardly a shining beacon of exemplary action. They have single handedly rebooted the messaging environment so many times is hard for anyone to want to or trust a 'standard' pushed by them. We still don't even have RCS in GV or Dual SIM RCS FFS. AND that damn SMS fallback never works. If you don't want it send, RCS just tries for 10 minutes and then says failed and you'd never know unless you look at your phone again.
Meanwhile Samsung of all people got both of these features to work using Google's own APIs 🤦.

I'm a broken record to those that have seen me say this but I'm 🎵 ... Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down...🎵 Hangouts was going to be the killer all in one App, it had Calling, SMS, Chat, Video Calls. But Google did what Google does when they don't want to perfect something or people like it too much, send it to the graveyard.
