"Google sign-in" error

HTZ Rezound here. I had the same issue as everybody here. I disabled sync for all of my Google services and rebooted, then turned them on one by one. I purposely saved Google+ for last, and actually left it off for one day. After a day and a half of no issues, I decided to enable Google+ sync again. Right away I got the sign-in error. So it appears to be related to Google+, at least it is for me. And even with Google+ sync off, the Google+ app works fine. So I'm just going to leave it off. In fact, most of the services seem to work even with the sync off (except Gmail). If I turn off calendar sync, it still appears in my calendar. If I turn off Drive sync, I can still see my Drive.

Mine wasn't coming on until I manually synced all my google products. I was getting push updates for g+ and gmail as usual. I had no triangle from when I signed out and signed back into my g+ app last night, until I just manually synced.

Eta: after some fiddling, I have notice it only seems to happen when I manually sync or manually refresh any of the Google apps. I have background and auto sync enabled, those work fine.

Add me to the list as well :-(

However, I went a bit commando before using Google to find this thread.

I wasn't able to use play so I figured that was the source of the problem as I was able to use gmail from my phone (Bionic) just fine. I was also able to log in to my Google account through my computer so I know the password wasn't the issue. At first I thought this was some random program possibly phishing for my password so my first reaction was to change that.

Anyways, figuring it was a recent change I uninstalled all recent updates and cleared all data from play. That didn't work either. Found this thread and decided to uninstall G+ as well. That didn't work either.

So now I'm stuck like the rest of you waiting for Google to fix this mess. As I've typed this my wife's Galaxy S2 just started with the error. I'm afraid to even look at my Xoom >.<

One question though.

If it's an update to the market/play or G+, how will we receive this update if our devices aren't logging in properly?

@tridge03, you can uninstall updates to Google Play through Applications in Settings. I would recommend trying that.

I am also having this issue on my RAZR, but it doesn't seem to be affecting my access to any of my apps, including Play. I've uninstalled G+ and Google Drive and haven't seen the message since, but it has only been about 30 minutes or so.

Update.. I just got it again, go figure. So, I'm not sure what's causing it but I might try uninstalling updates to Google Play, unfortunately I don't know if there is any way to disable automatic updates for it.

HTC Inspire here (rooted, but stock rom). I'm getting the same alert/error. I tried force closing, clearing data and cache, and un-installing/re-installing all of the Google apps I could. I still get the sign-in error sooner or later. So far I'm everything seems to work just fine, I can send and receive email, access g+, purchase and download from the play store, etc. I just keep getting the annoying alert that I need to sign-in because I've got the wrong password or my account has changed.

Now Google Drive wants to be updated and the "sign-in" error happened again.

I had this issue, 2 days ago. Had to Factory Reset to get rid of it.

Nothing was affected, just kept getting the prompt to enter pwd.

Clear Cache and Data on Google+. Never use it again.

Pretty sad how their own software doesn't play well with their own OS, but they're preloading it in the ROMs :-(

I deleted my G+ account this morning because of this.

There is a service that updates Play Store but you cannot uninstall or disable it (except maybe if you're rooted). The service runs periodically and if it sees an update it will automatically pull and install it whether you want it or not. It's call something like Market Updater or something.

@Spiral9^^^^

What version of Android are you all on? I'm running 2.3.4 on my Bionic. My buddy who has a RAZR MAXX isn't having the issue running 2.3.6 and my ICS Xoom isn't having the issue either.

EDIT: Removed Google Drive, Reboot, input new password (since I changed it) works for now. /shrug I hope this works as this is a business phone and I need to receive emails. Also, since I removed all updates from Play which turned back into Market, the Market updated itself and is now back on Play. (as n8ter said it would)

Been getting the error for a couple of days. While it is annoying, all you do is press the notification to bring up the box, then press the Back key and it goes away, at least for a while. Everything works, so this message is actually meaningless. Eventually, Google will wake up and fix this. I'll be damned if I am going to factory reset my phone with 2 years of customization for what is basically a minor annoyance.

This started happening to my optimus elite as well. Crappy phone has more problems than answers...

I really hope Google is aware of this. I'm not going to freaking reset my phone after redoing 2-step across everything. I'm saddened they didn't get a Google + update out today to deal with it. It seems like that's a big part of it, if not all of it. GRRRR.

I'm thinking that it may have something to do with play music for me. Everytime I try to stream music over 3g I get the error. Just ignoring it results in the phone assuming the tracks aren't available. VERY FRUSTRATING

It's definitely a Google+ issue, I think (well maybe I shouldn't say definitely :P ). I was getting that error all the time, once I deleted my Google+ account and cleared cache/data it stopped completely. I have Drive and Music installed. I swapped out my phone for a Skyrocket that didn't come with G+ pre-installed and haven't seen the issue yet despite having all the other google apps installed.

Now the Play Store has an update for Google+. Only problem is that the update crashes with the error "Invalid package". Ugh. I turned off Automatic Updates for Google+.

I am getting the same error message on my S2. Also keeps crashing.

Got the same thing on my Tab 7 Plus. Thought it was some sort of malware so factory reset the thing. Haven't got it since the reset.

I am still having this issue and cannot update g+ as I can't get into my play store. I removed g+ updates and data but got nowhere. I removed and re-added most of my gmail accounts which worked great. The only one left is the main account which IS causing problems with other apps.
