I am a reasonably new user of Android devices, I have recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy tablet, during setup and my first week of playing with it I realised my collection of photos which are in the google photos folder are not stored on the tablet but on the cloud ( i think ) my question is how do I transfere them onto my tablet‘s internal storage?
Many thanks

Did you go to the photos website ? This will be the way to download all photos to device

On Android (and some also on iOS)

On Android there is no option to transfer multiple photos from Google Photos back to your camera roll.

You can go to https://photos.google.com/ on the phone, select several photos, tap 3-dots > Download.
They will be saved as a ZIP file, for example in the "Downloads" folder, where you can "extract" them.
You can do the same with an album (or add the photos to a new album): tap 3-dots > Download all.

You can "Share" selected photos with Google Drive and download from there, but that will probably double the storage used by the photos. Therefore not recommended.
Similarly you can share with "File manager +" when you install that app, and download to the folder you want.

The idea of Google Photos in the cloud is that they're all viewable there (as long as you have a web connection), and you don't have to have them locally stored on your device (which would take up a lot of space). If you need a particular photo saved locally on the device (e.g., if you wanted to edit it using some other editing app), then you could download it by bringing it up in Google Photos, tapping the 3-dot menu button at the upper right, then Download.

Is there a reason you want your entire photo library locally saved on the device?

Congratulations on your new Samsung Galaxy tablet! To move photos from Google Photos to your tablet's storage, start by opening the Google Photos app and signing in with your Google account. Select the photos you wish to transfer, then tap the three-dot menu and choose "Download" or "Save to device." If you want to download multiple photos at once, go to photos.google.com in a web browser, select the images, and download them as a ZIP file. You can then transfer this ZIP file to your tablet using a USB connection if you prefer. Make sure you have enough storage space available, and consider turning on automatic syncing in Google Photos for easy offline access. You can organize your photos using the My Files app on your tablet.
