Google takes over as my driving assist.

When I am driving I use Drivemode to make and answer calls automatically. But it seems as though Google like to take over as the default driving app. I don't have Android auto installed. I have drivemode set as my default but it never detects when I am driving. It is always Google that asks if I want to answer the call or listen to a message. I can't figure out how to stop doing this. Anyone else have this issue and a fix?

Is this a recent change or has your phone always done this?

I have a Moto Z Play and this has worked pretty well in the past. But for some reason the Google assist (i think it's google) seems to take over. Drivemode used to start up as soon as it detects that I am driving. But now it doesn't even though I have drivemode set to auto launch and shut down.

Is yours set to "movement", or a BT device?

I've turned off movement on mine, and just toe it to the BT in the car, and it seems to work fine. Maybe a shutdown, cache clear, reboot would help?

I don't have Bluetooth in my Durango. So I have to use movement. It used to work great but I think since Google came out with Google assistant it is not very good anymore.

If you have a 3.5mm jack, go get one of these and never look back...

Open Google, go to Settings, go to Google Assistant, turn off what you want.

I don't see anything to select. I don't have Android auto installed. But my drivemode app does always start up automatically. And then Google will ask to answer my phone calls.
