Google timeline has me travelling during the night!!

Why is my timeline showing that I’ve gone back to the place I was at earlier in today when I was in bed asleep?? I got home at 3pm however this shows I got home at 1.15am!!? This has been happening for a few days now. Why is this happening and how do I fix this pls??

Are you using a VPN at home? That can make the device think it's somewhere else, depending on where the VPN server is located.

Would that make the GPS on my phone think it was where I was earlier that day?

A VPN server might also be messing with the timestamps, depending on what timezone it's in. Can you confirm that you are using a VPN? It's not entirely clear from your post. If you are, try turning it off temporarily and see if the same thing happens. If not, turn it back on, and then see if it recurs.

Hi, thx however not using VPN. Seems to ‘lose signal’ half way through the day and doesn’t know when I get home. For eg today I got home at 4.15pm and timeline shows I’m still at work one hour away. I can guarantee when I look again tomorrow morning, it will show I’ve been at work all night.

My Timeline was turned on by default, I didn't realize it till I started getting the creepy emails showing me how Google was tracking my every move 24/7

I didn't even realize Google Timeline existed until then So it's probably no surprise I turned it off immediately

One thing I can say is it was freaky accurate tho

I let mine run. Whether Google knows my comings and goings, I don't care. There's not one add they can send me that will make me spend $$. Plus, if I need to confirm my location for any reason in the future, I have it available to me.
