Google to retire Wallet for digital purchases API, affecting third-party merchants

Dangit, this was the reason I was "ok" with the MonoPrice breach a few years ago. I had purchased from them before the breach but had used GW to buy from them so they never actually had my CC# to be compromised.

"Digital purchases" are the keywords here.

I put my money in my Google Wallet account and I use my Google Wallet Card all the time. I like it more than just using my regular debit card and having to wait longer to see my purchase history in my actual online bank account. Will this affect me at all, or will this only affect NFC payments?

I read that, but there was also this in the last paragraph:
Google is not offering any replacement products for Google Wallet for web purchases nor did the company make any recommendations for alternatives. As it stands right now, that market is being filled by PayPal, Amazon payments, and others.

Which indicates the part of GW that allowed you to buy actual items from online retailers is going away also.

Title of the support page is: Google Wallet for digital goods Retirement

Thanks, maybe I misread it.

Where was this even used for "digital goods"? I don't even see a lot of places using it for ACTUAL goods.
