How can you prove accuracy right now?

You can't say with absolute certainty what you're going to do 5 minutes from now, but you have a pretty good idea.

I'm not sad about this situation, I'm ticked. Google and Motorola make a big deal about America this and America that, but when it gets down to it, green speaks more than patriotism doesn't it. Just like with Apple, an American company, employing people in other countries for cheap labor while we have a ton out of work here, stashing money overseas to avoid taxes, but please, buy our products.

At this point I'm ready to go back to a flip phone. I'm sorry if I'm overreacting in your eyes, but when I buy something, I want to believe that the people I bought it from are the people I'm going to deal with after the sale, not get handed off to someone else. If all this was about was patents, why the BS about buying American?

More and more I find myself disenchanted with Google and the moves they're making, let's drop SD cards and push people to use the cloud, we can charge for storage and people will use data on their plans to transfer files, so our carriers will be happy. I don't trust Apple or Microsoft as far as I can throw them, Blackberry is circling the drain, so what's left?

the one company that still has an sd card slot and removable battery has worse reception compared to motorola thats why i choose motorola for reception

Still ordered a Moto X today with the $100 coupon.

Still a great device.

If you look at Lenovo computers, they actually keep fairly close to stock windows. As a company they seem to focus on hardware. That could be a good sign for their approach to Android.

I also think you will see a shift towards enterprise ready devices. Lenovo focuses very heavily on enterprise. While I do not expect to see them abandon the consumer side of the business, I fully expect to see future Motovo devices with premium build quality and security far better than we have seen in consumer devices to date.

Time will tell, but there are far worse buyers that could have scoped up Moto.

Perhaps but the "plus" in the "stock android+" of the Moto X is one helluva plus.

Lenovo CEO praises Moto X and Moto G, hinting that it may survive the acquisition.

Lenovo CEO says he will treat Motorola like a treasure, says he has no plans for layoffs.

Punit Soni and team likely to be retained? That bodes well.

Lenovo CEO says Motorola brand will be used in N. and Latin Amer. Lenovo brand will be used in China, emerging markets.

We know that the Motorola brand will live.

Lenovo CFO doesn't quite answer whether it will shutter US manufacturing facility, saying most of its manufacturing is outsourced now.

Note: the Texas plant is a Flextronic plant.

Lenovo CEO says he hopes to sell 100M smartphone units a year. Doesn't say when.

Sounds like Lenovo wants to be a player.

But then again, until we see it, none of us can say for sure what's going to happen next.

If you think about it, Google should have been the one you should have never have trusted. Your data is and has always been valuable to them.

I, for one, hope they do end up building on the foundation Dennis Woodside has created. It was a breath of fresh air in a stale industry centered around *moarmoarmoarmoar*. I can't see why they would spend this much money acquiring a company just to trash it and start from the drawing board. I think it's fair to assume a lot of the North American emphasis will be shifted to more international-friendly devices, which was really what hampered Moto X sales.

We'll see what happens, obviously, but I really don't think we have any reason to panic and lament the state of Android....yet.

Had literally just placed my order for a 32GB X, came straight to this forum and saw the news. Have to admit I'm kinda worried but who knows maybe its for the best but I really pulled the trigger because of googles direct involvement with Motorola.

It's a great phone for a great price and we won't be seeing these great sales in the future so get it while you can.

I will still buy the Moto X as planned but I am assuming this means that days are numbered for free support for Google+, cloud, etc.or whatever you get now with this phone.

Yes, it's wayyyy early and I think people are overreacting to the news. It will take least 6-12 months for the deal to be approved by all parties (I believe it took a year from Google buying Motorola to finally owning it). In the meantime, it's business-as-usual, so I wouldn't expect issues with support.

While I understand what they're saying in the call, just because they say it doesn't mean that's what they're planning. Companies do a lot of spin to reassure everyone that everything will be fine. Sometimes it is, most times it isn't. Seriously, how many times do you hear about things all hunky dory after a merger. HP had big plans for Palm, and how did that work out for them? They were going to be a major player in the mobile industry with that purchase, & IIRC weren't they the #1 PC OEM at the time? There's a lot of parallels here.

While I understand you're trying to call for calm, the reality is that most of these companies that buy another aren't looking to spend money and grow the brand. They just shelled out a huge amount, and they're gonna want to recoup it quickly, which usually means layoffs or cutting corners. The brand image is what they're usually after. It's a well known and simple enough practice that it was used in Tommy Boy for Pete's sake.

Son ordered a Moto X Developer Edition this week that has already shipped. His first smartphone. Now the news today of the sale. Now he's torn. Does he keep the Moto X or return it and get a Nexus 5. My concern is how good will Lenovo be on updates and support? What other concerns?

He should keep it. It's the best phone for the time being if you ask me, and any changes from the Lenovo deal will take a while to take effect. If it even passes
