With Google buying Motorola Mobility, that gives Google more patents and important for GTV, access to a good working relationship with TV providers (Moto makes many set-top boxes).

No, those are for fiber to the home like FIOS. Just normal STB really.

Moto Mobility makes most of the STB for Comcast (Xfinity) and Verizon FIOS.
The only thing left is for the govt to approve the merger (or Google pays 2.5 Billion).

It seems like Google would want to keep the set top box and mobile phone hardware from Motorola, but there's also a decent chance this since this was primarily a grab at the patents owned by Motorola, they could easily just sell off or dissolve everything else. I hope that's not the case, but it wouldn't surprise me.
