Google Voice not recieving voicemail or SMS

It seems like Google Voice will not update (even with a manual refresh) my SMS and VM until I pull the battery. I pulled the battery a few minutes ago and got all of my messages from yesterday. I realize that it isnt a instant push - I have mine set for every 5 minutes, but does anyone else have this problem?

Are they coming via the Google Voice website?

I found that if u go to ur settings on the actual website and have it send u a txt when u recieve something and it will somehow trigger google voice on the phone to refresh at that time. idk how but it worked.
