Google Voice SMS Setup?

Helo guys I just switched to tmobile and bought a nexus S and was thinking about eliminating my messaging from my plan as I hear I can set up google voice to handle my messages. Can someone walk me through how exactly I would go about setting up google voice for text messaging. I have googled it but when I log into my google voice account I don't see SMS anywhere.

Google Voice doesn't really have the ability to replace the SMS function on your phone. You can do simple text messages with Google Voice, but not from your phone.

I have been using Google Voice for over 18 months and have not sent out a "traditional SMS" during the time period. I have been using GV to send SMS on my phone and through my browser. Granted you have to get a new # or recently Google allows you port your number to GV. I have the Nexus S and the GV app handles all of my SMS needs.

Hm, wish I could say the same. Google Voice will not send or receive any text messages, at all. I'm getting frustrated, changed my number to use the Nexus S, then found Google Voice and changed to that, now if I have to go back to my old number, people gonna hate. =(
