Google Voice Typing repeating sentences

This is MADDENING! I do NOT type my texts, I scream at the phone! Now what am I going to do? I cannot possibly type all those things on that tiny keyboard. I'll go bonkers!

Well, I MIGHT have found a possible fix. I uninstalled and reinstalled Google's Gboard, and I use THAT and enabled voice typing from it. I have an LG L22C - LG Power. I changed Gboard to my input. You have to keep Google voice enabled, but don't USE it, use the Gboard and click on the mic icon on the left side of the keyboard. Hope this helps until Google fixes it!

Galaxy J5 with Android Version 6.0.1; started since last patch (within the week). If I use talk to text, the sentence repeats with every possible variation that it thinks I might have said. First noticed in Messenger but Message app too. I know it started with the Android patch that was forced last week. I saw there are two different applications that could be the issue.

In Settings --> Language and input --> Speech Text-to-speech --> my preferred TTS engine was Google. Trying Samsung.

I'm about to correct it with a hammer.

Same on Galaxy J5. I realized that it's repeating every possible variation of the sentence depending on which words it may not get right. In your sentence: whether vs weather; cell vs sell.
Settings Language input my TTS is set to Google. I'm checking to see if the Samsung is ok. I'm beginning to think it may be a Google issue that appeared after last Android update.

Well this seems to be something that just started on Googles end.

I have 2 other phones that are doing the same thing. So it has to be something with Google.

Doing it on the LG V20

and the S7 edge

You can add a Moto X Pure Edition to Android phones having this issue. What a pain. It did it a few days ago, stopped and has now started doing it again.
I'm thinking it is a problem in Google servers?

Just got the update 2 days ago and now I'm going insane with speech-to-text as well. Hope they fix this soon. :mad:

I have been having exactly the same problem with my Samsung s5 I have am having exactly the same problem with my Samsung s5 I have I'm having exactly the same problem with my Samsung s5 I have him having exactly the same problem with my Samsung s5 I have been having exactly the same problem with my Samsung s5

I'm having this issue as well. I've got an LG V20, on Verizon.

If i can't get gboard to stop doing this, I'll have to switch back to swype keyboard.

I've tried flushing cache, and reinstalling. That didn't work; multiple sentences for every spoken sentence.
Does Swype use a different text to speech? If it's using Google's then it won't matter.

This is ridiculous - and yes, there is an issue with Google directly. At first, I thought it was specific to my devices that were on the Verizon network (Google Pixel XL, Samsung Galaxy Tab), however then it also started happening on a variety of devices I have in the house, regardless of carrier, or WiFi, etc. - the Samsung S7 Edge, The Galaxy Note 5, The Galaxy Note 8 N5100, the list goes on. Now, Google Voice Typing is completely useless on ALL devices. I ONLY WISH I knew this was happening to ALL devices before Google had me go through resetting my Pixel to factory restore, losing all of my configured apps. GRRRRR.... I am pretty angry at something this basic being an issue. They better get their act together soon - I rely on voice typing constantly because I work out of the car all day, and if I have to stop and pull over each time to answer a critical email or text (I am a consultant), then it is useless.

My Galaxy S7 is having the same problem since yesterday. Repeating every variation of the sentence I just said. It makes voice typing totally useless. Takes more time to delete the three added sentences than it would have taken to type it all from the start. Google, get on this!

For those who need a temporary work-around, I switched my keyboard to "Swype & Dragon" in "language and input" under "general management" in my Samsung S7 settings. The Swype & Dragon keyboard is an app you can download from the Play Store. I used to use that for voice input, but overall I think the Google Voice input is better. But not right now... The problem doesn't seem to be affecting Dragon voice input at all.

I guess I should be glad I'm not alone. I thought I was losing my mind with the repeating text. I hope they fix it soon!

I just got off the phone again with Pixel Support. They are officially now saying it is NOT - I repeat NOT specific to any device. It is affecting all of Google sporadically, and they will have to update/patch the Google Inc. app in order to fix the issue... I was asked (albeit very nicely) to please wait and be patient, and that the developers were working on it. Oh joy.

@Almeuit...

Swype works just fine, as its speech to text engine is dragon dictate. I've switched back to Swype and have no issues with sentence replication now.

I liked gboard, but not enough to deal with this replication crap; not even for a day.

@Michael in Maumelle...

Download Swype. Swype uses the dragon dictate speech to text engine, and is not suffering from the sentence replication issue.

Thank you SO much... I was about to lose my mind... I think I love you...

Glad I am not alone but what a serious pain. Like many of you, I use voice typing all the time so big deal. Is there a Google site worth reporting on?

Thank you everyone for your input, so that I know I'm not the only one, was going crazy over here with my S7..
