Google voice working

Thanks NewAge, I now have the desktop ghost app and I can almost/kinda make voice calls, except whatever number (have tried folks in different area codes) I always get a lady robot saying:

'…pleted as dialed. Please try your call again later.'

My guess is I'm not using sipdroid right. I'm off to find some FAQs. Hints welcome, and thanks again for the help! I'm definitely getting close.

If sipdroid is set up before the GV app is installed it can be a pain to get it setup right. I would almost recommend a wipe if I thought it would help. If all else fails try that.

A wipe would involve backing up my apps and then what?

Sorry to be such a noob!

Regardless I'm going to try to figure out sipdroid first. It seems like a configuration or operator issue.

Most important things like apps should be saved on the cloud. Passwords are gone, angrybirds score is gone, and certain other things are minorly painful but if you've only had the device less than a week its really not all that bad. Just make sure you get wifi on so the restore isn't done on 3g (waste of data).

So there is no real backup you can do without root. Other than what Google natively provides you. There was a section that asked permission to backup with Google. Hopefully that was checked as I'm not sure where its at otherwise.

And then goto settings > privacy > Factory data reset

I would wait for the update that is supposed to hit soon. The update may wipe your device, though it will do a restore I'd imagine. That may solve problem. If not and all else fails try above

There are other wipes that are more or less effective. I'm not going to talk about them at this point. Just know there is always a way. Just google it.

Got it working. In manage apps for sipdroid there's an option to delete all the data before deleting the app. Did that, deleted my previously linked pbxes, reinstalled sipdroid and now all's well. Thanks!

hey, thanks, seem to work on my Droid X as well good for avoiding room charges, or when there is no signal but you have wifi

Yup, I got it on my DX months ago. I can't take any credit other than passing on this info. It seems a bit more useful on the Xoom which has no dialer.

I'm pretty sure this will work on the majority of the Android platforms.
