Enable text messages for your specific phone. Than disable Google Voice notifications on your phone. You'll lose voicemail notifications but you can have them emailed or texted to you.

Previous forum. This worked for me, its a little tough to get it going but I have been perfect ever since! I love the visual voicemail! The translation sucks and always makes me laugh hysterically

You can change that in the google voice menu, it allows you to receive texts through the standard sms app that your phone comes with. Just make sure that you added your number in the online google voice settings and you should be able to do this.

Ya know I just realized auto correct changed voice to voiceband. Wtf lol
