I went online and found that chevron accepts google wallet, so I went to a friggn chevron and walked in with my tablet looking like an idiot. I asked the guy and he had no idea wtf I was talking about, I looked at the payment thing and didn't see a paypass or nfc logo, same thing happened when I went across the street to hess..

Has anyone successfully bought gas with google wallet (with their N7)?

I've tried using it too. But says you need internet to use it. I guess you could find WiFi. Or use your phone as a hotspot.

HAAHHA Thats very funny, I didn't even think of that. I would have looked like an even bigger tool, after going through all that trouble only to find out I can't use it because its not connected to a wifi network.. Wow

BTW Sorry if my post sounded like a rant, thats because it is..

You don't need internet.. I have confirmed it myself.. I used it at a 7-11

You need WiFi to set up the card or if you want to switch cards but otherwise it doesn't need WiFi/internet. I've used it and it worked.

Places like CVS, Duane Reade & Walgreen's accepts NFC / PayPass payments. Try there. Go buy some toothpaste, deodorant or condoms courtesy of Google! :D

I went to CVS last week $11 for paper towels, dish soap, and candy. I used the Nexus 7 first and it did $10, and paid the rest cash. The guy had to hit "process ATM" on his screen. I use to have a CVS card but he scanned one from behind the counter and gave me a sign up sheet to do later (I haven't yet, I never shop there really lol). So I could get the $4.88 for six big rolls of bounty =].

I haven't used the credit yet. It'll probably lapse before I get a chance to, because I rarely take the tablet with me when I go out. I did use that credit for the Play Store, though.

If it lapses, that's fine. You'll get any money you didn't use back.

it expires on the 17th according to the email I got.

Ohh does it really?? For some reason I have the deadline written down on some piece of paper to use my google wallet credit by 10/10.. Don't remember where I got that information from, anyways thanks.

Also thanks for the suggestion above I think I will go to a walgreens or cvs instead and buy $10 worth of crap I don't usually buy, like haloween candy or something stupid, I just really wanted to put some gas in my car lol

Even the free $10 Google gave me for signing up? Lol

If you still have Google's prepaid card, then yes.

They're doing away with the Prepaid card because Wallet now allows you to use any card (credit or debit).

This was done to improve the security of Google Wallet. Previously, it stored your cards on your device and rooted apps were able to steal your info. Now they only store a tag on the device and then verify the tag with your saved cards in google wallet in "the cloud." If they steal your tags (or your phone), you can just revoke the tags and your cards are safe.

I just used my phone as a hotspot.

Good to know.

I finally used it last night at two local places, since I had two tablets (one mine, one was my mom's). The first at CVS, and the second at a Hawaiian Barbeque, I turned on bluetooth and it worked just fine at both places. Thanks, Google! :D

But making it require the internet now for credit/debit cards may make it a hassle, forcing you to use WIFI or phone hotspot.
