Yes, you can use it anywhere NFC is supported. Some retailers, convenience stores, etc., but it can't be used at the play store to purchase apps.
I used it for the first time last week at a BP convenience store and bought a Monster drink and a lighter. But one thing that baffles me is that Google said that developers don't make much money and need help. If that's the case, why don't they give android phone buyers 10 bucks toward the purchase of new apps? It would give users a way to get apps they need...especially people who don't use credit/debit cards and would help the developers cash in.
The thing about Google Wallet is that not every store has the MasterCard Pay Pass reader. So don't load it up with a lot of cash unless you consistently shop where the reader is A) installed and B) works (I find them to be broken at a lot of stores).
It works flawlessly as advertised and is extremely convenient. Once it's ubiquitous we'll all be using our phones to pay for everything.

I've used it at CVS, Jack in the Box, and McDonalds. Thanks Google. Actually thinking about loading on another $25 just for the wow factor. Every time I've used it the person working the register has been blown away.

I use part of my $10 to buy oreos and milk at CVS and it went super smooth. The cashier didn't even bat an eyelash. She told me more and more people have been coming in and paying with their phones.
With the recent nt changes to wallet, I imagine a lot more people will be using it on a regular basis. Glad we can use whatever card we want now.
Y'all are lucky you get Google wallet supported on your S3 I have an AT&T version and it wasn't supported last time I checked. I got my mom a new S3 for her bday and she's on sprint so hopefully I will get to use it on hers
