I'm just curious whether anyone ever uses a payment app and the NFC capability to make payments from your phone?

I'm just starting to read about how Google wallet works, but I don't think that I've come across a store where I could use this capability yet, and I'm not even sure whether the VZW overlords will allow this.

Will this become more common in the US?

Verizon blocks the NFC capability of Google Wallet because they have a competing product called Isis. Until recently, that meant you couldn't use the Google Wallet app on your phone at all. Now, you can use the other functionality of Google Wallet except for the NFC (tap to pay) feature.

You can use isis. It requires a new sim to use it. I have it on my phone, set up through Amex serve as a prepaid service. It seems to work at the same places that Google wallet does.

Where do you use NFC to pay?

Will we see more stores that accept payment over NFC in the US?

You'll have to wait for android 4.4. Then you will be able to use Google wallet.
