Wtf? I can't use any of the wallet' features unless I give Google all this info...

That's odd... It didn't ask me for any of that. If you're trying to set up incoming payments then that's probably why it's asking for so many identity verification stuff (and SS because you know, IRS).

ProTip: Unless it's a publicly-known address, ALWAYS blur out your e-mail (or any other personal) info on pictures.

This is what Google is asking of me...

Are you applying for payment reception capability or something like that? The only reason I can think of that they request this from you is to either establish taxing information (you'll be getting money, the IRS will want to know about it) or if you're in a different country and want to create an US account, or don't have a credit card with a US address.

Nope, I just wanted tap and pay using my credit card, which BTW worked a couple of months back....

Mmmm, that's very odd. I did set up my account a couple of years ago, though. I'm moving to the US this month and will change my payment method when I get an US credit card, let's see if it asks me for that number then.

It asked me when I got the Google Wallet Master card. (It's only a prepaid CC) By US law they have to ask for it. Banks and credit unions a like do the same thing. It just proves who you are. If you do not feel comfy with giving out that info then I say don't use the service. However it is general practice.

Yeah, but in your case you were requesting a card, a means of receiving money, even if just a prepaid one. He claims, at least, that he's just trying to set this up for payment with his existing CC.

Good point! Then he can cancel it and continue using it for the playstore an what not. Its just something Google will bug you about if I remember right. However I could be wrong and I'm sure others have different experiences I'm sure as well they could share! Still, I hope my information is helpful. :)

I did not read through everything, but if you are going to be receiving payments, it will be used for tax reasons at the end of the year
