Google's Stock Camera Force Closed when Needed

Just recorded about 5 minutes of our new Mayor giving his speech.
Pressed STOP.
Nothing happens. Still recording.
Press STOP again. Freezes. Camera closes.
NOTHING was saved.

Can't even express how pissed I am right now.

Can anyone recommend a camera that actually works when needed?

I have not had any issues with mine. I am stock not rooted yet.

I had this problem like... 2 times after a photo. I'm rooted with a custom kernel, though.

Is this just a general technology problem, though?

Like, sometimes any tech that I have will konk out no matter what it is. Sorry to hear that you had that problem, though.

I'm also looking for an alternate camera app. The Nexus 6 is the worst camera experience I think I've ever had - between the excruciatingly slow pictures (people often ask if I'm taking a video) and the multiple crashes. Once I couldn't even open the camera until I rebooted the phone. I find myself taking fewer pictures than I used to because the experience is so bad. I'm stock.
