Gorilla Glass on Epic different than iPhone 4?

Task killer has caused more issues then it has helped and that has been proven time and time again. Even sprint reps, that are informed, say the same thing.

Based on experience, this indeed true. And the examples cited above are not shown in the list, because they are services and will only restart themselves if you stop them.

That is what I saw with task killers on my moment. The things I ended would start right back up again instantly almost. As well as when I went less abrasive with the task killer(only ending apps I was using) I noticed less was going wrong with the phone.

Honestly I look at it this way, if services like qik and such are bothering you and you dont use the app (and its not an essential service) then remove the apk. Problem solved. Honestly with this phones hardware I notice zero slow downs with just using the built in task manager. Now if we could just work on the battery life and tv out... :p

I just called Samsung, they said call your carrier because the carrier can get the phone with or without.

I called sprint, spoke to sales, and to advanced tech support. They never heard of it.

Since it was already over price point, I can't imaging sprint adding cost to the epic by including this option.

That or one of the reasons why it was over the $199 typical price tag is because it was one of the options.

I bet those "minor scratches" aren't scratches. If you take a microfiber cloth and rub it over the "scratches," the "scratches" will go away. I saw what I thought were scratches on an epic and I took a microfiber cloth over it and voila the "scratches" were gone.

I registered and am making thist post for the sake of everyone who has yet to accidentally drop their phone: it isn't gorilla-like glass at all. I dropped mine getting out of the car this morning (a car, not a huge truck, so it fell from no more than 4 feet).

maybe it is gorilla glass... but at this rate, that's worthless. but now, especially after reading the above post, and mostly because mine cracked this morning, I'm 95% sure it is not gorilla glass.

I am having to pay $100 to get a replacement - thankfully, I had insurence.

edit: not the above post, but the last post on the first page

Um, any glass will crack at that height. Gorilla glass orevents scratches, not 4 foot drops

I had the Moment without gorilla glass and never got one scratch on it. I kept the phone naked the whole time I had it. I never put it in my purse and very seldomly put it in my pocket.

I have a screen protector and a case on my Epic and I hate it! It takes so much away from the screen by giving it a hazed look. Besides, the protector doesn't even cover the whole screen. I'm thinking of taking it off. If I drop it, what good would a screen protector that only protects part of the screen do anyway??

Maybe if I find a crystal clear protector that covers the whole screen I'll put one back on...

I had a protector on before, but I took it off due to the same problems you are having. I have some minor scratches on the keyboard but not on the screen luckily.

.

my guess..

the screen protector will give the glass some vibration absorption. Reduce the effects of vibration due to dropping on hard surface. This MAY save the glass....

the reduction to vibration.. I have no idea how much.. but it is something.

I had a protector on my moment and hated it. My brothers and mom have them on their epics and I ABSOLUTLEY hate it! It makes their screens ugly and the responsivness is bad. Gorilla glass or not I'm not dealing with those issues again as they nearly ruined it for my momet.

It was last year for my Pre. Sorry I wasn't clear on this issue. Another poster mentioned it being 6.50 with a 30 percent off coupon? This is a pretty fair price since they give you two. Again, Phantom Skinz is perfect just for the extra piece of mind. It was the third screen protector I tried for my Pre and it was bar far the best. Touch screen performance didn't take a hit and I barely noticed it was on the screen. After reading the answers on this forum, I think I might just buy another pair.

Where was it confirmed that the iPhone 4 has gorilla glass? I have not seen any confirmation just speculation...

Really? Whoops. I just assumed it was gorilla glass because many of my friends are clumsy and have escaped getting scratches on their screens despite doing horrible things to them. While it hasn't been confirmed, what ever they're using sure is pretty good. In fact, listening to some of my friends the iPhone 4 screen was sent to us by a highly advanced alien civilization. I mean if anyone could convince them to give it to us lowly humans, its Steve Jobs amirite?

I wasn't going to buy a screen protector for my phone for the exact reason that you stated - its made with gorilla glass - but just today I took my phone out of my pocket and there was a small but surprisingly noticeable scratch on the center of the screen. I have no idea how it happened since I keep it in a pocket separate from everything else but needless to say I am pretty upset about it. I am really happy with my phone and haven't noticed most of the problems people are complaining about except my phone will randomly stop recognizing the SD card. This isn't a big deal but now I am considering returning the phone using that as an excuse so I can get a screen without any scratches (although I don't want to get a phone with the dreaded GPS issues people are talking about). Petty, I know, but I did just pay $350 for it. :o

So I just ordered a screen protector from Phantom Skinz a couple hours ago to keep this from happening again. Use the coupon code - summersale2010 - for 30% off your order.

I just ordered this and used the coupon code, does it fit the phone pretty good? I had purchased the Invisible Shield when I picked up my phone and it seemed that they were not cut properly and many had gone back for a refund. I noticed on mine that it would overlap enough to get pulled off a bit and so I received a refund as well.

I paid a total of $6.95 with the code for just the screen skin (Phantom Skinz) so not to big of a deal if it ends up sucking but would be nice to know that it does fit well ;)

I should have chimed in earlier, but I don't think the iPhone 4 has gorilla glass.

I doubt samsung would use a different glass screen on the us version than the european versions. If samsung is willing to use gorilla glass on the european galaxy s phone and considering samsung is using the exact same touch screen/ super amoled screen I don't know why they would go to a different part manufacture. It seems that it would be more efficient just to use the same glass screen because it would be cheaper for samsung to buy more gorilla glass screens because they could probably negotiate a better deal.
