Gorilla glass?

this link says that gorilla glass is used in a whole rack of phones, and the Inspire 4G is one of them

CORNING® GORILLA® GLASS

Ive heard from several sources that it does not, but it seems that both the Desire HD and Inspire 4g are listed on Corning's website.

Guess there's only one way to find out for sure. Let me go get my sledge hammer and I'll report back later....

how much more protected would the inspire be if it does have gorilla glass?? compared to if it had the normal glass screen?

Gorilla Glass is not indestructible, but it is far batter than standard grade glass. I've seen some Chinese iPhone clones with plain plate glass that could be cracked by simply pressing the screen to hard.

You can still scratch and break gorilla glass, just not as easily as standard glass.

I got this from Is it just me? [Archive] - xda-developers just while googling around. Seems to explain a possible theory...

Yeah, I just don't get that either. HTC has apparently never admitted that any of their phones has Gorilla Glass. Why should this be different? I don't doubt Corning -- they're the ones who make the stuff, for goodness sake.

My theory? I think HTC doesn't want to admit it because they think it'll make people think they can do all kinds of stupid things with their phones. HTC thinks people will blame them when phones start breaking and people go "But you told me it had Gorilla Glass!" as if Gorilla Glass means indestructible.

Gorilla Glass =/= Titanium

Re: NO Gorilla Glass!

Sorry folks.... looks like HTC isn't in contract with Corning for their Gorilla Glass product. Doesn't that royally suck, huh?

Gotta buy Samsung or LG in order to have bullet proof glass on your PDA.

CORNING® GORILLA® GLASS

Oh well, at least I saved everyone time from asking the SAME question.

really wished people would do research before spewing false information...
Corning Gorrilla Glass HTC

a quick look-see on the site shows all the companies that use it and on which models of phones have it. and the HTC Inspire 4G is one of them... so YES it has gorilla glass...

My screen protector helps me see the screen outside and makes it easier to swipe across the screen. Also, more protection can't hurt and peace of mind is worth 20 bucks to me.

Maybe HTC doesn't advertise that the Inspire (or other models) has Gorilla Glass because it's a trademarked name and they would have to pay royalties to Corning to use it. I'm no lawyer, so it's just a guess.
