How about the Screen in the sunlight? I cannot read the N1 in direct sunlight. It's horrific.

You both have had the EVO long enough to re-evacuate the battery life. What are you guys experiencing now on a day to day basis regarding battery life. I don't mind having to plug my phone in at work, as that is what a charger/usb is for. But I don't want the EVO dying every 2 to 3 hours.

the evo screen is not amoled like the N1. at maximum brightness its probably more visible in sunlight than the n1

Definatelly not the case, I unpluged my evo from the charger yesterday at 3:30pm when I left work and with regular usage like a few phone calls some text messages and searching weab, and when I pluged it in at 10pm my battery was at 67%, so battery will definatelly last all day. If you are constantly using it it will probably last you 4-5 hours, that is if you are using it the entire 4 to 5 hours.

I'm surprised of how good it is, its better then both the Palm Pre and HTC Hero in sunlight.

I don't think so its not really needed for me, I work 7 to 3:30 so I always make sure its at 100% at 3:30 when I leave cause I have a charger at home and at work and I have absolutelly no problem the stock battery lasting me from 3:30 until I go to bed. Only the first day when I got it my batter came down to 37% but that was becasue of extreme heavy usage and still it didn't die.

I would still pick up the larger battery. It couldn't hurt could it, and you would have two.

How strong is the vibrate?

I ride a motorcycle and the Pre and Touch Pro2 aren't strong enough to notice the phone ringing. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

If I am on my bluetooth talking the phone will automatically switch from headset to speaker to bluetooth over and over and it drives my girlfriend crazy when we are on the phone talking. It's just many of the quirks that i have experienced with the craPre. I am going to take my phone back right before I can upgrade to the EVO and get a new/refurb so that I can sell it when I get EVO. For now I just live with it like a festereing sore in my side.. Kind of reminds me the way Rand al Thor lives...

I know it's all about video and all but I was wondering... how is texting on the Evo? is it like the Palm ... meaning you can view your texts in a chat-style?

I hate to break it to you, but threaded messaging has been standard on pretty much every smartphone OS and most dumbphones for the last three years, at least.

thing is sprint usually lists it as a feature, but when you compare phones on their site, only palm says "yes" to threaded/chat-style messaging... but the HTC has "no" listed there, that why I am curious.

I am a windowz mobile user (Sprint Mogul).
I understand that the Bluetooth / WIFI use the same antenna....
..that being said on my mogul If I am listening to some music using my motorola s9 bluetooth headset and try to transfer loads of files from the phone to the network (using resco file explorer) there is massive skipping in the audio.

I am curious as to whether this is a op system thing, processing speed thing, or just inherent to sharing the same antenna.....

How does the EVO behave?

I love that little guy. It was my first smart phone and the community behind it is awesome. It's time to move on, but it will be remembered.

Yeah i really like my pre too. Well actually the WebOS. i always wanted a phone i liked OS wise but with a big screen. It would be awesome to have an Evo speced phone but with WebOS and the Iphone apps. Wishful thinking. but we can dream.
