webOS is MUCH better for multi-tasking since it saves the state of the app and you can just switch back and forth without any effort, Android is similar to the iPhone where you have to leave the current app and open a new one. That is one of the things I find really annoying coming from my Pre.
What does the phone do if you drop out of 3g coverage? Does it 1RT or roam?
Having said this, how well does the EVO multi-task as compared to the pre? Is it so different as to be a deal killer or is the multi-tasking "do able"?
BTW, Thanks for all the FAQs...

OK now I am totally confused. This isn't a deal breaker for me by any means but I thought you could do a long press on your home button and that took you to a screen that showed small icons of your opened(still running) apps. I even saw a video where somebody was working in one app, received a notification from another app they had running, long pressed the home button, and then tapped the appropriate app to switch to it.
Is this not possible in Android, or the Evo, or 2.1? Positive clarification on the matter would be real nice.
Does te camera have zoom capabilities?
For all the multitasking questions on Android it saves the state just like on the Pre its just that there are no cards but if you hold down the home button for like 2 seconds it will bring up a list of the last 6 apps you have opened and you can go back into any of them by just tapping on them so its definitely NOT like like the Iphone.
Just got mine today! What a nice slab of technology! I'm coming from the droid incredible and I will tell you there ARE some advantages other than the obivous hardware differences. The only thing that the incredible has over the EVO is the amount of on-board memory. There is about 389mb of onboard memory for app install after all the Sprint bloatware. That's terrible for a 1gig on-board device. The incredible has around 750mb of on-board for app's out of the box. The advanatages for me are mainly in the messaging app. I hated the way the HTC messaging app was layed out on the incredible. VM combined and MMS messages were way too short to see and most of the time, too small. Not the case with the EVO. The visual VM has it's own icon which is perfect. Aside from that, if you have any questions, ask away.

Can you post a pic of the messaging screen? I'd love to see what you are talking about.
Thanks for the clarification. That's what I thought/hoped. I can do without the cards but I am sure that for a good couple of weeks I'll be trying to close apps by swiping them off of the top of the scree.![]()
yap and not only that I have not used a palm pre for like 3 months and I still sometimes try to use the swipe up gesture to bring up all the apps on android LOL
You are not the only one. I do that on every smart phone I use nowyap and not only that I have not used a palm pre for like 3 months and I still sometimes try to use the swipe up gesture to bring up all the apps on android LOL
I've pretty much confirmed this as well (after watching a video on youtube) while playing around with a friends samsung moment. A long press of the home button brings up a thumbnail view of the last 6 apps you have open and pretty much restores them to the last state they were in instantly.... Good enough for me
