Got my HTC Evo yesterday ask if you have any questions!

I don't know if I want to but I have to ask, can you turn off the time and weather widget and get just a blank back ground?
Yes, you can take everything off of all the screens just by long pressing on what you wanna remove & then drag it to the bottom of the screen to remove it.

do you guys think the evo launch will have problems with dead pixels like the pre did?

By the way, I was a bit disappointed the Evo didn't come with the Cooliris 3d gallery seen on other 2.1 Android phones, but I found the apk for it on xda and installed it. Works great and syncs your Picasa albums.

So was I, that was one of the first things I searched for and will be installing :D.

does it come with a screen protector or will that be something we'll have to buy on our own?

It only comes with a charger and usb cable. Nothing else :(.

wow, no screen protector?! that's crazy! i guess i'll have to pick up a cheap ebay one until more reviews pour in on a quality screen protector. thanks for answering! :)

Ya it does kind of suck I still have to stop by best buy and pick on up, I'm sure they have them available for the HD2 which should work on the Evo.

About all the discussion about multitasking on Android vs WebOS... Android definitely multitasks in the true sense of the word. Apps run in the background unless the OS decides it needs to free up resources, and if so it kills them. The state of the app is saved the last time you use it so if the app is killed, it starts back up the way you left it. Obviously if it doesn't need to be killed it will keep working. Here's a really good article that explains how Android multitasks.

Good article thanks.

Hey dkotoric1, not sure if you saw my post earlier, thanks again for all the info, thought of another question to ask. How is the SMS text messaging operate? I again have a Pre and love the fact (I know with a patch) but can have multiple text windows open to text different people and also send a group text. How is it on the EVO, I assume you can group text, but how about just normal texting of different people is it easy to open and text different people quickly? Any insight would be appreciated.

Well there are no windows in Android so you will kind of have to get over that and NO you can't have to seperate conversations open, but yes you can send group messages.

Just an FYI, there is "cards" on the evo. Just pinch the home screen(HTC Sense) and 7 cards come up. Now this isnt application cards... this is just home screen cards.

if you turn off sense, does it noticeably run quicker or does it feel the same?

It runs quicker... but HTC sense is still fast, just a little buggy. my nexus is noticably faster than the my EVO with sense. But with Sense off... the evo is just as fast as my nexus.... altho not as pretty and not as user friendly.
