Got my xt701!!! Lots of pics

I have a question gor both vjr021 and jboogie3: would you say that the phone was worth it? Would you reccomend getting one?
vjr021, how would you compare this to your 9700?
I'm a BlackBerry user myself, and I'm interested in possibly switching to Android. The problem is that AT&T doesn't have any decent Android devices. But thus Moto does look rather nice.

Bottom line with my 5 email accounts (one MS Exchange) and the 150+ emails a day i get, the BB messaging service is better. Or should I say what I was most used to.

The Chinese first, English second keyboard on the XT is a little frustrating.

The awesome camera makes up for it..

My BB has a charging cradle and car dock. The XT has none of these.

I can get a case for my 9700 at the gas station, I could barely find a screen protector on eBay for the XT.

Still undecided on the whole thing. Went out this weekend with it, GREAT conversation piece amongst geeks. You WILL be the only one in the room with it, pending an Android Central meeting somewhere.

What do you guys like most about the BB?

Anything I can document on the XT for you?

the phone comes with the standard english android keyboard. on a text field just long press and the input method will pop up and choose whatever keyboard you want to use. or you can do the below:

Instructions:
Download and unzip (not flashable update.zip!)
Install the two apks (HTC_IME & Clicker) using your favorite method (via a file manager or adb install -r). Sense users shouldn't (and needn't) install Clicker.
There is no need to push anything to /system
Go to Menu, Settings, Language & Keyboard. Activate "HTC_IME mod"
To change keyboard, long press on lower left key on stock keyboard or any input field. Select input method in the menu. then ur DONE! nomore chinese keyboard. now if you have rooted the phone then you can go into the system/app and delete the chinese keyboard apk.

now @ItnStln511 i would recommend but they have a better version coming out soon. only difference that the new one will have a 8mp camera and a hdmi slot and the UI is MotoBlur. MotoBlur is nice and all but makes things alot harder to hack and to stuff with it so i prefer stock android, which gets updates more often. this phone has a nice shape which i love, its like and the touch screen is nice as well.Only issue im having for some reason is the facebook app doesnt sync my contacts but my twitter and youtube work fine with sync. can you confirm vjr021?

I'll try the keyboard... I know there is an english one, but the layout favors Chinese, with extra buttons to switch back and forth between... This causes the space bar to be SUPER small, and other keys to not sit correct.

As for the XT720, you are correct, I prefere the 701 due the lack of Blur.

As for contact syncing, I don't use twitter or trust FB with my contacts.

I can say that Spanning Sync and my Mac work amazing with this phone.

FYI - Your keyboard mod didn't work... It's in the Keyboard menu, but when I enter txt, if I long press the bottom left key, it does not come up as option.

Welcome me to the XT701!

I just ordered mine. To be candid, even when I was totally sold on the specs, you guys convinced me on it.

It's my everything phone. And yes, the FM radio is important too.

Anyways, I'll update when I get it.

However, when are we going to see a docking port?

this phone doesnt even support the dock( no magnets use to trigger the dock)... sucks

Hi Guys,

I've been looking into purchasing this phone for a couple of weeks now. There is one thing I'm not clear on and I hope someone can help me out here. Do you have to manually select an english keyboard every time you want type, or is there a way to make the phone default to english?

You can either choose moto keyboard(which has chinese and english options) or you can use the stock android keyboard( Just English).

How is the size and feel of the phone itself? I've seen some images where it looks huge, but the dimensions show it is practically the size of an iPhone. Build quality looks pretty good in the photos.
