I'm a girl lol and you folks are mean... Just kidding... But anyway it's the dreaded WiFi with the exclamation point... With all the talk about it... You don't know?

Lol can you blame me? I thought you just randomly decided to stop your sentence mid way with the exclamation point.
But anyways no I have not heard if that before. Must be a nexus 6 issue?

An exclamation point alongside your wifi icon just means you currently have no wifi connection. I'm seeing that right now myself because I'm trapped in the basement of a building that has no wifi setup at all. The ! will probably (knock on wood) go away as soon as you're in range of a decent wifi signal again.
The "dreaded" exclamation point is the one that people have been seeing alongside their celluar data icons. Those are the ones that have been driving people nuts on XDA and Google Products pages.

Just to clarify... If you are seeing the exclamation point in your dropdown (quick settings), it means that you have WiFi enabled and in range but that you are not connected. But if you have an active WiFi connection indicator in your top bar with an exclamation point next to it, that means that you are connected to a WiFi network that has limited network connectivity and cannot communicate with the internet.

Actually, it means that you have Wi-Fi within range and you ARE connected to it but, for whatever reason, you do not have Internet access. In fact, I believe what it really means is that you cannot access Google's account server which, for all intents and purposes, usually means that you do not have Internet access.
It is entirely possible to have an active Wi-Fi connection without Internet access. For example, the Wi-Fi access point could simply be configured that way (ex: in a business environment Wi-Fi might give you access to the company's file servers but not Internet). Or, you could be connected to an access point which requires login before you are granted Internet access - such as the free Wi-Fi provided by Xfinity/Comcast or the pay-as-you-go Wi-Fi often found at airports, etc. In this case, you open your browser and it will automatically redirect to a login page; enter valid credentials and Internet access will be granted.
