GPM on AA Crashing Every Other Time

I'm on the monthly paid plan for Google Play Music (GPM). Worked fine on my Galaxy S8 until the last week. Now get a message every 2nd or 3rd time I plug it in to the car and try to use it via Android Auto (AA) "Google play music doesn't seem to be working right now". AA was last updated on May 10 and the S8 hasn't received any system updates, so I'm blaming this on GPM. Only solution is to reboot the phone when this happens.

Other music apps like iHeart will still work just fine when GPM crashes.

Anybody else having this problem? I'm thinking of resetting my phone, but don't look forward to the hassle though. If Google releases a kick butt Pixel 2 I may switch to that, because this and many other small headaches on the S8 have really left me luke warm about this phone.:-

Did it just start within the last week or so? If yes, it has got to be associated with a GPM app update. Happened to me again this morning, very frustrating.

Been alot of issues lately with AA. The weather tab just showed back up today for me after missing since April.
