GPS cache bug workaround, tested, working

Hey Rag! :) quick question can the method for Eclair (GPS debug/settings application by Number typing) method be solved with using the GPS Status App Froyo fix? without having to go through all them options?

I tried what the op said and it work the first time but now is back to it's old ways, What sucks is the first month I had the phone it work fine so I sold my real gps and bought the window mount and was just going to stick with the phone(kicking my butt on that decision)

I always playfully brag to my wife how her Nextel Moto i1 can't do what my Epic does. She wants a epic but will not give up ppt. Last night we needed to find a address and my damn phone would not lock, she whipped out her phone and got her gps up and running and that is what we used.

Now I have to hear how her phone got us where we needed to go and my "fancy phone couldn't".

the times my phone won't lock up a GPS, I do a reboot, and that always seems to work.

"Your current location is temporarily unavailable" is a PERMANENT message.
Anyone else having this problem or have a fix for it?

This is nuts. I can't use Sprint or Google Navigation, but everything else that uses GPS seems to work fine. I did exactly what the original post said to do, and it was fine for one day, then it stopped working.

Any ideas?

Have you loaded GPS Test utility? What does it show?

Are you trying to use WiFi or 4G while establishing an initial satellite lock? That is problematical. Use 3G while getting the initial lock with multiple satellites used, and GPS Test to trigger the lock and confirm it. After the lock is achieved, you can turn 4G back on and use your GPS apps.

If all else fails, reboot the phone.

I downloaded a GPS Test app. When wifi/4G is on, it says there are no satellites in view or in use. When I go strictly 3G, all of the sudden I have 5 or 7 satellites. When I turn 4G back on, all I get is a "waiting for location" message in Google Navigation that doesn't seem to go away.

When I am in the basement of my house where it is difficult to get a lock on my gps anyways, it is next to impossible for me to get a lock when I have wifi or 4g on in my basement which I consider a good test area - when I am on 3g only, it will lock with a minute or so - my garmin nuvi portables will lock in half the time or less - but, my epic is a multi-purpose device, so I would say it's pretty darn good!

With that being said, I have read somewhere, might even be from here, that those radios will cause longer lock issuse which I will add "also depends on signal"

So the problem you experience, that might be the normal case.

Guys, I am seeing some evidence of the old cache bug on EC05. Symptoms on our two epics are no lock in perfect conditions with wait time of up to a minute, and then a boot of the phone causing a instant lock (<10 seconds)
