Anyone else having GPS issues? It just takes forever, sometimes 5 minutes before it acquires the satellite. Dont have this issue with my droid2

I just used it for the first time yesterday and did realize that it did take a decent amount longer than I would have liked.

I can't grab the thread link at the moment, but I have a thread in this forum with a response from a HTC Rep saying they've acknowledged some sort of GPS issue that should be patched/amended in the 2.3 OTA update near this summer.

I've been experiencing these issues as well, and I am really hoping for some sort of a resolution soon. It's not unusable for me, but pretty close to it.

my gps has been awesome. instant lock outside, <1minute lock indoors.

wonder if there's some QC issue going on.

I've noticed if I was to turn on GPS while driving or moving it takes a lot longer I guess to "lock" on to the sats. Were you driving while trying to connect? Or stationary ?

my latitude never updates, always "last updated 19 hours ago", as i'm in a stopped car--GPS on--and not able to get it to update. hopefully That is just a latitude bug.

but when i'm moving, using Navigation, it works fine. go fig.

Guys I actually found a fix for this. Go to the market and dload "GPSfix" when it opens hit the button and give it a minute. When it vibrates its done. Retry maps.

^Yes. Or I did what the following user posted in another thread and now my GPS locks on instantly.

Install GPS Status from the market, then:

Menu -> Tools -> Manage AGPS -> Reset

Menu -> Tools -> Manage AGPS -> Download

Used these instructions from someone in XDA forums and it worked like a charm!

Can't hurt to try both. That one didn't seem to work for me but I did see it worked for many people in that thread. At least between the 2 it can get any phone going!

I know its great to have a 1/2 second lock even in my house now!!

GPS and Google maps on Thunderbolt is very frustrating. Google maps on my Storm 1 was great, FAST and ACCURATE.

On Thunderbolt (this is my first Droid so I don't know how it is on Droid's in general) it is very slow, has to hunt for a long time to find me - and is often times W-A-Y off the mark, sometimes up a a half mile off the mark!!!!

On my Storm 1, it would track me from room to room in my HOUSE!

On my Thunderbolt, it can't even find it's way inside my YARD.

Why the HUGE difference?

GPS Status works great.

I read that GPS Status drains your battery too much - have you noticed this?

I tried the GPSfix and it gets a LITTLE closer to my house - it says I'm in my neighbors yard - that's better than standard Google maps that put me half mile down the road!!!!

Our yards a 2 acres each, so it's still off by quite a bit. I just don't understand why Google maps (and GPS) on my Blackberry Storm 1 was so spot on (it woul pin point me INSIDE my house) and this Thunderbolt is so far off???????

y would gps status drain ur battery? u only open it once to clear ur gps data and to update server info

if u ever get locking issues just do same again...

thing works great i lock INSTANTLY now
