I need to do more testing to be sure, but I think I have found the problem and an easy solution. The recent update seems to have disabled "Standalone GPS Services." If you are experiencing the problem described in this thread, go to Settings/Location and enable "Standalone GPS Services." Since doing that the GPS Status app no longer keeps repeatedly acquiring and losing satellite signals. I haven't used the Navigator app while driving since discovering this, but based on GPS Status indications I think this probably has fixed the problem.
My GPS has been a HUGE problem since I got my TB on opening day. Up to 10 minutes to get a GPS lock on any apps. Since this update yesterday, I'm averaging about 30 seconds, so I'm happy. Also tested on a long drive this morning in city and highway. Seemed to track nicely any time I was paying attention.I updated to the latest firmware yesterday. I have never had any issues with GPS with my launch day T-Bolt. Now, after the update, when I go into the GPS Status app, the satellites seems to 'drop' out every few seconds. It will connect to 1, then 4, then 8, etc and all of a sudden all disappear as if you just started the application. I read that at least one other person noticed this behavior and commented that their navigation was a little strange as well. Can other check GPS Status and see if they have the satellites coming and going every few seconds? The best I can see is they all show up as connected for 10 seconds at a time. Then it will drop them all and start connecting as if you just turned GPS on. Any ideas or similar experiences?
For those that say their GPS locks and works great, is that just in the maps app and using navigation? Have you watched the info in GPS status to verify that you lose all satellites every few seconds? I agree with above post. When driving, the arrow icon will be surrounded by a blue circle indicating it lost my location, but it isn't obvious right away unless you watch it as it comes back quickly. GPS status shows what's really going on clearly.
So it seems the update definitely is causing GPS to drop out. Whether this affects real world situations is debatable. It does lose me while using navigation, but quickly (within a second or two) picks me back up. So, my take is that it technically is not working as it is supposed to, but in reality it doesn't cause a serious decrease in performance. Does anyone see no drop of all satellites after watching GPS Status for 30 seconds or so? It usually happens to me within 5 seconds, but it would be good to watch it a little longer. Wondering if some people are not having this issue. Might be worth trying a factory reset but I don't want to lose all my game data. I suppose this is better than it not locking at all for many people, but to me this is a downgrade as it always locked on me within 5 seconds or so and would never drop all satellites.
And as a sidenote, how can you tell how many sats you have. The intermittent sat dropping is interesting and I want to see if I'm a victim as well. Thx
Satellite dropping was much much worse this morning!
45 min drive to work this morning and was using Google Nav...very choppy!
All sats were dropping every 3-5 seconds thus displaying the blue circle in Google Nav as well. I was passing streets and intersections, and due to the lag, it was showing me behind those points.
Its not very far off and it doesnt take more than a couple seconds to refresh, but this is NOT how it is supposed to work!

I'm still not having any these issues. Have you tried gps status. Or a factory reset
I'm really beging to wonder if when Verizon pushed this out they broke something. Because it seems the people that flashed the ruu our havong less issuesI use GPS Status religiously. Thats also how I have been watching my satellites dropping in and out.
No factory reset yet...trying to avoid that if possible.
This has only started since I flashed the 1.70.605.0 Build.

I have this issue as well, but am having zero pinpointing issuse in the maps. When at work I am next to a large power substation an it would send my gps haywire. now I am literally locking ten to twenty feet away, an with the quickness too!I updated to the latest firmware yesterday.
