Grandfathered unlimited data plans?

I added unlimited to my dumbphone July 6th, and it is specifically noted that I am allowed to keep it when I move to a smartphone.

But, once you move from smart down to dumb, you have 1 month to re-upgrade to keep the unlimited. We did that for my wife (bought a phone July 2nd, returned it the 14th, and Aug 10th, bought the Droid Charge; they re-activated her unlimited.

Meanwhile, it sucks paying $25/mo for 6 months (corporate discount) of unlimited data I have not been using -- at least the $100 3g-4g and $100 dumb-to-smartphone discounts apply to me (per the CSR last night).

But what if you stay smart but just just dumb down the data plan?

You may be able to get them to request it, but it takes a day or 2 to get it accepted. Also, if you leave wifi on all the time then whenever you are in an already known wifi access point it will automatically connect to wifi.
Yea so I called up and asked about it. They said they could only switch me back if I was within 30 days of when I downgraded the data plan. Unfortunately I've had this $15 150 MB plan for over a year now so I'm SOL.

I bought my SGN from ebay. I still have the Verizon Unlimited plan and when I went to activiate it on line, it told me to pick a data plan due to my data plan did not support it? Do I just go into the store and activiate it there so nothing happens? Don't want to lose my plan!

Call up tell them you're old phone broke and that you need to reactivate a new phone that you bought. You'll need proper SIM card formatted to your phone.

Or go to the store and have them do it.

Unlike gsm where you can just switch sim cards, you can't switch to a regular phone without changing plans thereby losing your unlimited data plan (aside from grace period)

If your phone breaks and you need a phone in the meantime activate a pay as you go line.

I still have my Alltel 3g smartphone grandfathered unlimited plan from years ago on my GNex.

What is the best prepaid service anyone suggests for
the galaxy note? I bought it from at&t but had to cancel the
contract.:-\

I got onto VZW for the TBolt last year. I grabbed a GNex on launch day. Still the same data plan (unlim), same price, and when LTE kicks off here, I'll still have unlim with no price change. The rep I talked to (bought both phones from the same guy) was very clear on this point.
