I have the Grandfathered Unlimited plan and I'm thinking about switching to the new unlimited plan to save some money, has anybody made the switch?if so was it worth it?

Same boat here. The fact that new plan costs more despite the possible slowed connection after x gb has kept me away.

I saved money, even adding a third line (previously only had two).

It really depends on your situation. There were people paying $11.99 for a UDP line. There were people who were paying $100+ for a UDP line.

I see no reason to stick with the old, I used 85Gb hotspot last bill cycle and over 100Gb total with no obvious signs of throttling. Speedtest.net still had me at nearly 50Mbs at the end of my bill cycle, was still playing PC games with a ping under 80 and streaming Netflix on my hotspot. Seemed liked download speeds on my PC slowed down but still gamed and streamed fine.

The new plan has 10gb high speed hotspot only. Some are able to get more but Verizon has been clamping down and will most likely fully enforce this in the near future

I stick with the old grandfathered unlimited yet for a 20% discount via my employer, something I'd lose on the new unlimited plan since it only supports discounts for active duty military and veterans. Before any taxes and fees it's $72 on my old plan with the discount and $80 for the new plan (assuming I sign up for Auto Pay which I'm not a fan of).

As for hotspot my phone is rooted so it bypasses any subscription check, when it wasn't FoxFi did the trick. Either way I've never used more than 15-20GB tops via the hotspot (usually less than 5GB any given month) so I'm probably way under their radar.

The only way at this point I'd consider switching is if/when I lose that employer discount. :)

This. Many on Reddit didn't see it for awhile either .. the 10 GB limit seems to be being pushed out now though.

Fyi, using methods to bypass the hotspot check is in violation of Verizon's customer agreement. Now if you used it to occasionally go to 15-20gb, Verizon would probably let it slide. But if you consistently and excessively bypass their hotspot check then don't be surprised if Verizon terminates you...it might not be today, or this month... But the day can come. It has for those on Verizon's Legacy UDP who used what Verizon considered to be excessive data.

I switched in March. My MXPE was no longer charging consistently, and my local Verizon had a 128GB Pixel in stock. We had two grandfathered UDP lines. I had a third line on an AT&T GoPhone.

I have had no new issues - that is, places where I have had coverage issues I still have them. I might have been throttled once during the first month (I went over 22 GB total usage).

I have since ported the GoPhone line to a VZW Unlimited line and reactivated my Droid Maxx. My total savings is about $80.00 a month, and that will improve once I pay off the Pixel DPP.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that but my bill cycle just ended 2 days ago, like I said could still play PC games and stream no problem over my hotspot.

Thanks all.... I went ahead and made the switch. I figured with hooking up to Wi-Fi in alot of areas and each house I go to it didn't make sense to pay that extra when I only use a extreme amount data once in a year or two.

I have a grandfathered plan that I need to get rid of. I am still able to allow someone else to assume the liability of the line?

If your travel overseas, the new unlimited is better, since $10 a day to use your phone in other countries like you do here. I switched for this since go to Europe.

Can't use the plan for grandfathered unlimited.
