Great battery improvement

I disabled a number of apps. We will see how it works regarding the battery life. Certainly a nice ICS feature to disable and not un install in case the apps are needed in the future.

yeah hope JB doesnt lose the feature

then you dont get chance to double press coz the 1st press just takes u home.
i dont understand how disabling s-voice improves battery either, it doesnt show up in battery stats + i havent a way of really testin it but i disabled everything i dont use + cant uninstall anyway + a lot of people here have noticed definate improvements so its all good in the hood :)

I have it and all the Verizon crap disabled and I'm getting great battery life. I've been off charge since 830am its now 805pm and at 54%

I can't find S Voice anywhere in my list or at the end of it either. What is S Voice anyhow?

to disable s-voice, go to settings, application manager, press ALL at top of screen then scroll down till u find it, list is alphabetical and svoice has a blue microphone icon. its just a voice search app by samsung and IMO googles voice search is better. also to speed up going to homescreen, disable the home button "double tap" for s-voice (think its in "motion" settings but im not sure :)

...im guessin the reason u cant find it is coz ur lookin at downloaded apps in app manager so remember to tap "all" at the top :)

Does anyone know what com.samsung.vvm refers to? It says Voice Mail within the Services tab. But I use Google Voice. Should I disable it? :-\

This is a great thread excited to see what it does tomorrow on a full charged battery thanks for the tips everybody!

To disable the double click lag you must go into the s-voice settings and turn off "double tap home". Just disabling the app doesn't stop the button lag (at least to me it didn't seem to) . So before disabling the app, disable the double tap.

yeah do both

You can also try turning off WiFi, BT and GPS when not in use. Try to lengthen refresh rate of apps like BeWeather or AccuWeather or even setting them to manual.

This is a weird place to make a first post, but, I just used this thread to disable a bunch of stuff, but I don't even use weather, so I disabled that as well. Now I'm wondering if I get a little too disable happy.

I'm late to the party but let's see how much an improvement disabling the bloat provides.

You can easily re-enable anything you change your mind about. In the Application manager, scroll all the way to the right, to the "All" tab. The scroll all the way to the bottom of your app list. All your disabled apps are grouped together down then, and you can re-enable the same way you disabled.

I like this thread. I did disable some of the bloat ware on an S3.

just download juice defender free, and set it to balanced so you still get notifications every 15 minutes (Calls and text will still come through like normal) It has worked for me. I went over 1 day on my battery with moderate to heavy use. Try it out.
