Great day for the Evo 4G and Sprint

Well yes he did. I wonder if he meant that. Does your bill show kilobytes or bytes used? I don't use much data so on 3 lines last month I show a little over 440,000 used. I wonder what that 440,000 measures.

440 Megabytes

whats going to get a lot of people is that almost everyone doesnt know about data sizes. they are going to figure that the lower plan will be fine for them until they get thier bills and texts saying they went over and have to pay even more now. I dont really use a lot of data on my pre im not a fan of the smaller screen anymore but i could see with having an evo i will use way more than i do now. and some months i come up on 3-5gbs of data. I use alot of streaming audio, and sprint tv every once in a while. Seems my phone just eats up data

One other thing to consider, which many people are overlooking, is "Wi-Fi" access is becoming more and more available in public places. Almost every restaurant (Including McDonalds!) near here has Free Wi-Fi access.

What I think will happen over time in addition to the tier'd plans for the carriers, is more and more places will have their own Wi-Fi that you can piggy back onto if your phone supports it, essentially offloading the majority of data transmission off the cell carrier.

The only time you'd 'need' the 4G/3G cell transmissions is when you're in an area where there is no free wi-fi. Right now that area is huge, and obviously not a good alternative for most people, but in a few years I wouldn't be surprised if things go this route. Also keep in mind some cities are putting in public wi-fi bands which would help.

Unfortunately, this is just the first carrier to do this, and it will certainly not be the last.

Im sure Sprint and Verizon will follow suit soon enough.

But if you are locked in on an all data plan before they change, you are good... Unless it becomes a requirment for the next latest and greatest phone.

Sprint has a much bigger data backhaul than at&t. Keep in mind Comcast & Time Warner are teamed up with sprint, which Comcast has a rediculous data backhaul. All the 3G towers that at&t is using, has Copper Wires ran to the Tower (most of them), and are using outdated stuff. All of Sprint/Clear's 4G installs are using Fiber, and probably one hell of a data backhaul. Sprint's way of doing all of this is cheaper in the long run, than at&t/Verizon. Sprint plans on Using WiMax for data, and if they use LTE, they will use it only for voice. I dont think we will see Tier'ed data plans with sprint, at&t has made a horrible mistake, i think they should have it like this.

$10 for there 200mb plan on smart phones for the people that wont use it much
$20 for 2gb for the Medium user
$30 for the "Unlimited" user

But at&t loves their money, which they will see, this is gonna do the exact opposite.
