this plan change pisses me off, as i am waiting on my ipad 3g, 25 dollars for 2 gb, im pretty sure i can eat through 2 gb pretty quickly, will an ipad burn through data faster than a phone? absolutely im so glad ive never gone with at&t this is ridiculous
It's a good deal for most current Iphone users, but full Skype over 3G is coming, video ichat is coming, video streaming of movies via Netflix, official tethering, etc... People will start using way more than 2 gb of data and will be forced to use Wi-fi, ie, it eases Apple's network without them having to expand it. Now if the cap was 5 gb and not unlimited, this would be a bit more reasonable but will still suck for the upcoming data sucking video calls/streaming of movies/etc...
Oh and this effectively kills off the Ipad with 3G built into it. You can stream a few Netflix hi-def videos and be done that month. And it hurts people who want to tether their Ipad to their Iphone - same problem. Official tethering on the iphone = dead on arrival.
You got 14 GB which would be $145.00 for just data on At&t's new plan.
I'm pretty sure a gigabyte is 1 billion(1,000,000,000) bytes. So the poster in question didn't even come close to 1 gigabyte. I'm pretty sure when you are in the millions those are megabytes and thousands are kilobytes.
He said "14,673,849 kilobytes," so that is 14 GB.
Well yes he did. I wonder if he meant that. Does your bill show kilobytes or bytes used? I don't use much data so on 3 lines last month I show a little over 440,000 used. I wonder what that 440,000 measures.
I am more worried about Sprint applying these kinds of charges to us. If their network gets congested they may have to deal with the same issues as AT&T.
What most people dont realize is this is not going to affect current customers. ATT stated today that if you are currently on the unlimited data plan $30 you will not have to change your plan to upgrade to the new iphone. It is only going to screw over NEW customers that join ATT.
