Great Droid X Story

Funny story actually. I had a lot of Best Buy gift cards, so I decided to buy two Droid 2's this Friday from there, one for my fiance and one for myself. I really wanted the Droid X, but I just can't wait a few weeks...my need for a new phone is pretty dire, and each day Verizon's web site says the ship date is later and later.

So anyway, I'm sitting there on the little Best Buy chair with two Droid 2's on the desk, while the BB chick is inputting my driver's license into the computer. There is another BB chick fiddling with some cases behind her. Suddenly some other BB employee walks up to her with a small box and says something. She looks all excited. She walks over to the person who is helping me and goes, "Hey we just got the Droid X pre-orders in!!"

So I'm sitting there wide-eyed...and of course I go, "Did I just hear you say you got some Droid X pre-orders in??? Is there any extra?!"

Somehow I feel like the luckiest man alive...she gives me one, and then she proceeds to call a bunch of people on the pre-order list she has. I walked out with a Droid X and a Droid 2, and I couldn't be happier with both devices.

That's awesome. I used the trick of arriving 3 minutes after opening on launch day...but that wasn't an option for everyone. Congrats, it's a great phone!

I wasn't even eligible to upgrade until November, then this Verizon Rep that I know calls me and says we just got three Droid X's in today, do you want one? This was a month ago and I decided to get one of the first that came out. Good thing I didn't have to wait for the long shipping date from Verizon. This phone is awesome!

Congrats on your dx!! I was waiting for my d2 to come in because my store didn't have any in stock. As i was playing with the display model a sales associate came over and started talking about the d2 and the dx. Then he said, "we have one more dx in stock".

Sold!!

Congrats on your good fortune! It's always cool when nice things happen!

I placed my order on 8/5 and was told a date of 8/23 for delivery but I have to receive a shipping notification for it. I'll just have to stay patient!

I placed my order on 8/6 and was told my delivery date was 8/28. Much to my delight, my DX was delivered on 8/11. The Verizon guy told me when I brought it in to get it programed that that was fairly normal. The date they give you is the "worst case scenario" and they almost always deliver it earlier. Don't know if this is true, but I was very happy to get my phone early. The phone it was replacing took a trip through the washer and dryer and I was going to be phone-less until it arrived.
