Green screen/flashing

I had both. Both previous devices had the white flash and the green screen. My current device does the white flash at the moment.

It's a shame, I was planning on picking up a 3 when the prices started to drop substantially close to the 4's release....... but I think I'm just going to skip the 3 line altogether, too many problems.

I'm really surprised the replacement phones are having the same or different issues.

I haven't seen these screen issues impact the XL

I think that's a wise move. To echo another comment, I haven't seen that the issues also impact the XL, but I personally don't want a phone that large either. I had the 2XL and it was a decent phone, but just too big for my liking.

Yep I specifically wanted the 3 because of it's size..... not the XL.

Now my second replacement is doing it. At least I'm being offered a refund this time but then my chat got disconnected. I would prefer not to go to the 3XL, so what other devices do you recommend? I am planning to stay with Google Fi.

Samsung is a distant option, I would consider an iphone before them again. OnePlus 6T is a strong contender, though the night performance of the camera doesn't begin to compare to the P3.

If you're set on staying with Fi be sure to check your short list of devices against their compatibility list https://fi.google.com/compatibility - you may/may not care about some of the limitations. Screenshot for iPhone attached as an example.
I'd probably go with the 6T - seems to be the most reasonably priced option among the contenders.

That 'green screen' shown in the OP looks suspiciously like what I would get on my Nexus 6P. I'd get something like that, sometimes a wide green bar across the screen. When the green screen or bar was on the display the screen was completely unresponsive. The power button worked, fingerprint sensor worked, texts could be recieved, calls received ... everything worked except for the touch screen.
If I flexed the phone just right it would go away and everything would be hunky dory for a while. Eventually, of course, flexing the phone wouldn't work anymore and I had to just replace the phone. It was over 3 years old. That problem had nothing to do with software - it was most definitely a problem in the motherboard. I had replaced the screen myself and it still happened. I'm gonna be really pissed if my new Pixel 3 does that!

The green screen just popped up on my wife's phone. Only owned it for five days. A replacement is in transit, but I'm not feeling good about this after reading all of the posts. Very surprised Google would be this careless. I won't be surprised if we eventually hear about a class action suit. I hope they get their act together soon.

Yep I'm kinda surprised, it seems like the original pixels are the most reliable with the least amount of issues.... it should be going the other way with each generation you'd think :O

Well one of the issues I have always had with Google is them changing the source of production every year or even every model. This has been happening since the Nexus line. It just doesn't allow for consistency and staggers improvments. That doesn't excuse Google because they need to do better vendor oversight but that's not an easy task to maintain. The Pixel 3 and 3XL were both made by Foxconn as far as I can tell but the 3 has the screen made by LG which i have a feeling that it may be a factor in this issue since I haven't heard of this on the 3XL.

Good point ..

Bump...

I picked up a discounted P3 and mine started doing this last night. Is this the same thing?

Has not happened since a reboot but am hesitating over whether to return it, purchased new from 3rd party seller on Amazon.

Return it if you can, Amazon has them new for $547. I price matched mine at Best Buy recently and don't have any problems.

Definitely return that, that's a failure waiting to happen. At least you're being warned first, that's not always the case.
