Ok, I am running GreyBlur with no issues. Yesterday in the notification bar it said there was a pending update when I connect to wifi. When I clicked it nothing happened. So I connected to wifi, it downloaded and rebooted the phone without any prompting. It started a progress bar like any other update and then gave me the explanation point and little android. I had to pull the battery. Anyone else get that? I couldn't stop it or cancel the download, and it didn't look like a normal Motorola update. Also I cannot find what/where the file downloaded to. A little lost here, and I am not noticing any adverse effects.

you can't do the OTA update with a deodexed system, which is what ginger/greyblur gives you. you will have to flash to a stock 1.2.6 or 1.5.7 SBF. i suggest 1.2.6, root with gladroot and then check for updates to update to 1.5.7 OTA, and then again for 1.8.3, then run afterupdate.bat and you will still be rooted.

Understand completely. I was asking if anyone saw this before because I cannot tell what the update is, I am not trying to do a firmware update. It does not give me a pop up like the stock updates do, it just appears in my top bar and I cannot clear it. Am just trying to figure out what it is because no threads on here or XDA mention it.

Hey,
I can confirm this too.
But for me it was/is more evil because it hung, so I had to remove the battery.
Afterwards it was not booting - so I thought it was bricked...
Today I tried again and thankfully at least it booted - maybe only the battery was empty.

So yes, I am also with GreyBlur and had the same experience = download an update in the notification bar without any indication of the content/owner of this update.
Afterwards OUTOMATICALLY Reboot!!!

I would really like to know the culprit and ... (O.k. let not say it).
gvndeb60 what about you, did you find out more about it.
Please can you send me a PM with a list of your apps, so we can compare and can find out apps which both of us use?

I am going to flash again.
It's too risky having probably any wrong code on my phone...

Best regards from Germany.

It was the phone itself trying to download 1.83. Greyblur is built around 1.57 firmware. There are detailed instructions on XDA on how to kill that notification. It is a little scary when your phone starts downloading something without prompting and then tries to reboot and wont respond.
