Grips, Grumps, & Quibles - Google Now / Lock Screen / Notifications

First, I have to say that I love the device. Love the way it feels in my hand and the overall "snappiness" - seems like a rock solid win from Samsung.

On to the minor gripes and grumbles:

1. Wireless Charging Notification - I like that I can leave it on a wireless charger at my desk. But when it reaches full it chimes. Then a minute or two later it tops up and chimes again,... and again,... and again. Come to find out, when it came off of DND this morning - it was chiming and woke me before my alarm... annoying! Love to hear how to turn that notification off!!

2. Google Now (or even S Voice) only appears to work when it is charging. Off charger (in my kitchen - hands in the dishwater) I cannot seem to wake the device. I have tried every type of permutation of Google Now (my preference) and S Voice (not-so-much) with lock screens and activation words. Fingerprint on/off - swipe only lock screen. Nothing seems to help. Thankfully, my Moto 360 is there to keep it working until a fix comes along.

3. What is up with the water lock screen? I HAVE to swipe it away no matter what? I can't just get into my device? Annoying. And why can't I double tap a notification on my lock screen and have the notifying application launch? Very frustrating with Text Messages and, well just about every notification.

4. Notifications in general. I have low confidence that I am seeing all of my notifications. For some reason, certain applications (Google Messenger and some of my games) do not notify me of new information. Application settings say they should, but for some reason they don't play well with the system notification.

I have the AT&T version, so I have disabled/re-enabled various applications to try to see if that resolved any of the above. I have used Google Now as my launcher and I have used Nova,... I prefer Nova and will stick with that for now (as it doesn't seem to have any more positive result to the above issues).

For some reason, the fingerprint scanner doesn't seem to like me. It works best when I have just 1 fingerprint recorded. If I do all four - it takes many presses and sometimes just defaults to the backup password,... I'm sure that's just because I'm holding it wrong.

Sigh,... I really wish Shamu was shaped like the S6 Edge.

Thanks for listening (if you read this far) and if anyone finds a solution I would love to hear it!!

I think this is your answer for number 3.
go to Settings
lock screen and security
Other security settings
trust agents
Turn off smart lock (Google)

Maybe number 4?
Sounds and notifications
App Notifications
click on desired app
set as priority
Really not sure if this is the answer....

Trying both of these suggestions now. What I found is that with any adjustment - it's really best to give it some time to stabilize and run it through the paces... will report back later what I see.

Many Thanks!

I assume you aren't using the fingerprint unlock?

It works just how its supposed to when using that. Havent even bothered with the swipe to unlock myself because I was so impressed how quick it reads your finger.

if you want to get into one of the notification you touch it once and then touch the fingerprint/home button (not pressing it)

or at unlock screen you just touch scanner/home and it goes to home screen.

Number 3 is solved. Also mentioned on XDA that you must turn off Google Smart Lock in order to not have a duplicative experience.

The notifications are still inconsistent.

As I did a backup and restore, I have a lingering notion that I better factory reset. Frustrating, as it took a 1/2 day to get it they way I like it,... but most important is that I need my notifications and I need Google Now or S Voice to wake the phone up from a dark screen whilst it is NOT plugged in or charging...

Thanks for your fix on the lock screen! That's one down!

Here's a tip for the fingerprint sensor....

I only use my thumb (either hand) to unlock.

Go into the security settings, and then to fingerprints.

Make fingerprint #1 your left thumb (or whatever finger you are going to use most often). Scan it until it's registered. Then make fingerprint #2 THE EXACT SAME finger as #1 (in my case my left thimb).

Do the same for prints #3 and 4, but use a different finger. It ends up having TWO scans of the same finger, two fingers in total.

I always use one of my thumbs to unlock, and since it has two scans of each, it's more likely to recognize it.

This tip tremendously enhanced my fingerprint scanner accuracy. Seems to work right which ever way I press my thumb on it now.

Thank you so much for this tip!!
