I really like the stock messaging app. It sucks that I will have to use another app for group messages.

Try having the iPhone user(s) in the group delete the thread and then start again. I was having the same issue, and that fixed it.

Stock messages does, but I had some trouble there... switched to Textra and haven't had any problems since.
