Group messages split into individual threads to MMS

[Android Central Question]

Whenever I am in a group message and someone sends an image, the text automatically becomes MMS and each person's reply will turn into a new individual sms.

Anyone else have this issue? I'm using the stock messenger.

Which phone?
Which version of android?
Which SMS app?

Most likely this is a flaw in the texting app you are using. The big-name SMS apps do not have this problem.
