Group SMS text are slow to receive (Sprint)

Has anyone experienced issues with slow receiving group texts? Network is Sprint and reception is fine. A friend of mine has AT&T and is getting the same message 2 minutes faster (iPhone 6). Would this be a phone issue or network/carrier problem? Any help is appreciated.

I'd guess it's the network. Group text typically comes as an MMS, which means it relies on your mobile data signal (not the voice signal). How's your data signal?
