Went by my local ATT store today to compare my Note 2 to the GS4,,, I then left the ATT store and went straight home and ordered the GS4 thru T-Mobile (my current carrier).

Overnight shipping thru TMo so I should have by May 1st at the latest.

But yea,,, the GS4 really is a step up from the Note 2, in my opinion that is,,, anyone wana buy a TMo Note 2 ;)

On a side note,,, I love the iphone 5, but wow, Apple really has some catchin up to do,,,, the screen on the GS4 really does look better in person compared to the iP5 screen,,, not to mention all the other ways the GS4 beats out the iP5.

Cheers

One of the reasons I have not gone to check it out! :) I have a Note 2 and am trying to sit this one out! At least until the first week in June when my upgrade is due...I hope it is everything you expect. COme back with your impressions and contrast to the Note 2.

One thing I can comment on is the Note 2 screen vs the GS4 screen,,,, don't wana bum ya out but the S4 screen total blows away the the N2 screen.

On the upgrade subject,,, I was not due for an upgrade with TM for a very long time, so they applied credit to what I had already on my N2 and only charged me around 400.00 for the S4 an tacked on 6.00 a month for the next 20 months to pay off the S4 so I wouldn't have to pay the total buy-out price of the S4 while still paying off my N2,,, very nice of TMo I think to offer that option.

Of course I will just sell off my N2 to pay off TMo and in the end my bill will be lower than it currently is.

Carriers will work with you even when your not due for an upgrade.

You're not going to miss the pen and the bigger screen? I am eligible right now and two of my friends have the GS4 with a possible 3rd one getting it as well. My other friend is most likely getting the HTC One. Usually I am the one always getting the latest and greatest phone first, but in this case, as hard as it is, I am going to wait it out until the Note 3 shows up. Not sure how Samsung will manage to cram that rumored 6" screen into the next Note without it being ridiculously huge. They sort of pulled off the impossible with the Note 2 making it feel smaller than the original Note, but then again, the screen didn't get that much bigger, just an increase of 0.2" compared to the 0.5" we are supposed to get this time. If the Note 3 is too ridiculous for me, I might land up waiting for the GS5. Having an upgrade available right now and all my friends getting new phones makes this really hard.

I'm a former Epic 4G Touch owner (hated it for most of the 1.5 years that I used it) and recently bought a Note 2 off ebay and I love it. Just an amazing phone which works so well and has great battery life and pretty much addresses every issue I ever had with the E4GT (wifi connectivity, 3G connectivity, lack of screen rotation toggle and brightness on notification pull down, horrible GPS connectivity, poor battery life, slow camera shooting, poor video recording quality, etc.).

I checked out the S4 this past weekend and I was favorably impressed as it was more nicely designed than the S3 (which I would never buy and think it looks pretty cheap) and more 'premium' feeling, although not at the level of the Note 2, which exudes quality 'despite' the plastic build. The screen was nice and I like a lot of the newer features (especially S-health, camera software and interface especially dual camera shooting for pics/vids, ability to use with gloves on, etc.).

However, I wasn't blown away and will pass on this generation and instead wait for the Note 3, which I will definitely get if it doesn't compromise functionality for the sake of specs and perceived 'build quality.'

Hard to believe the GS4 screen blows away the screen on the Note 2. The screen on the Note 2 is freaking fantastic! The GS4 must really be something spectacular!

My better half is sputtering along with an iPhone 4, so I'm watching the GS4 stuff to see if I can find a way to replace the iP4 with one. It's not easy getting people to give up their crappy iPhones, but I'm trying...lol!

Anyway, I think the GS4 looks awesome, but now that I've had the Note 2, I don't think I could give it up for anything except the next (or one after) Note device. I'm too in love with the S-Pen, the big screen, and the battery. I don't even use my poor, neglected tablet anymore. :(

In answer to some of the posting questions.

Nope,,, I won't miss the S pen or the bigger N2 screen,,,,,, I almost never used the pen,,,, and I won't miss the bigger N2 screen cuz the GS4 screen is that much better,,,,, while my N2 screen is great,,, the S4 screen is stunning !!!

I've used the S4 extensively over the past three days -- I got it for my non-techhead wife -- and I have the Note 2. The screen on the S4 by no means blows away the screen on the Note 2. In fact, the only differences one really notices between the two devices are the obvious ones -- size, S Pen, squared-off sides, and some updated system software (e.g., Settings now has multiple screens, etc.). The screen on the S4 is very nice indeed, but to the (imperceptible to me) extent that it may be "better" than the screen on the Note 2, it's certainly not worth giving up the big screen. The S4 looks like a tiny little mother next to the the N2.

I was chatting online and ATT offered to move my upgrade to now if I ordered online and I was not sure at that point, so I passed. I do use the s pen every day so that is one thing I really like about the Note 2. Also, I went to see the HTC One before the S4's were out and while the screen is very impressive, it did not have me thinking less of my Note 2 screen. 720p verus 1080p...I guess I wonder about the performance also.

Interesting to see how some are sticking with the Note over the S4. I think I may be in that camp...this is the first Galaxy device I have not had on launch day in a long time, going back to my captivate. I for one, hope the Note does not get physically bigger. I am at the limit of what I will use for a phone with the physical size of the Note 2. If they could make the screen bigger without device getting bigger might work but any bigger and I will be out.

I got a chance to briefly look at the GS4 and my initial impression was very favorable. Since I plan on leaving VZ for ATT I will need a new device anyway. I love my N2, but it is a bit large for me. I used the pen a lot in the beginning, but rarely use it now. I have also looked at the One and the body and screen are very nice. I really like the fact that 32 and 64 are both available now. I have always used Samsung and I like the idea of the S-health apps so I will probably try an S4 when my contract is up on 5/20. I hope the 32 is out by then.

The only reason I am considering moving from the N2 to the S4 is because I have the Note 8. I dont need 2 S-Pen devices. So... good bye N2, hello S4.
